Do you ever take your collection to AD?

Maybe this has been asked before but do you all ever take your collection to the AD when picking up a new watch or general visits?

To show them your a serious collector/enthusiast that’s not in it for the short term gain.

If you can show them hot models you’ve had for a few years it helps them to think they can trust you not to instantly flip a hard to source piece.

And yes, I have taken my watches to a meeting with an AD manager.

It certainly was an ice breaker & I have got pieces from them since that I’m convinced I wouldn’t have got if I’d just walked in cold & tried to get on the list for stuff.

Yes, it’s always good to let your AD see you wear the watches you got from them.

Yes on this but absolutely no reason to bring in the whole bunch.

It seems there’s always someone conjuring up a new way to demonstrate their obsequiousness toward their AD. Buying gifts, taking out to lunch, sending champagne to the shop, now bringing our collections in to the store to show good faith? Where does it end?

Id rather not attract that kind of attention..never know who sees you coming and going and could follow you out into the street. Maybe wear in the last piece they sold you or a cool watch that isn't one of the ones flippers/insta clowns are interested in (Sub, GMT, Daytona, Sky Dweller) to show your real interest in watches. It is pretty easy to determine who is really interested in watches vs someone who fits into those other two categories just by talking to them for a couple minutes.

Also try to find a SA who is really into watches...a lot of the salespeople in these boutiques only care about selling stuff/commissions and not the product they are selling. If you end up with a SA in that category they really won't care you are into watches or not.

I would just text my AD a picture of my collection with today’s newspaper in the shot. Kind of a “proof of life” pic like when you kidnap someone. Easier and safer than schlepping the entire collection to the mall.

Correct.

I understood the question to be, “wear watches purchased on visits to AD.” If that’s what OP is asking, answer is still “yes.” It can’t hurt, it shows you keep and appreciate timepieces purchased from them.

Don’t carry a box of watches into your AD, please!

I guess this is a dig at the two Rolex models in my signature? Whatever. I have other watches but don’t feel the need to list them here. And definitely no need to cart them all to my AD.

Would probably wear a watch bought from them, but whole collection, nah.

Nope, will wear a watch bought from then when I go in to say hi, but I still have my dignity, I don’t have to prove anything to someone who really doesn’t care

I took a collection of my credit cards to an AD recently but they weren’t interested in them when I said “bring out a Daytona and I will show you how they work”

Beyond it being a security risk taking all my watches anywhere, I can’t fathom why anyone would want to do this. Am I missing something?

My AD gets WhatsApp from me on the regular. I show them my collection and the gaps in it to spur them on!
