The odd angry shot!

This is one of my favourite war films. It was set in Vietnam and featured the Australian troops deployed out there. It captures the boredom and long periods of inactivity, also the great little games Soldiers invent to relieve that boredom.
Light hearted banter, not too deep .....Which is the reality of being a soldier.

What's yours?

Apocalypse Now.

I know nothing about soldiers or war or how it affects people so I can only relate from a film goer's perspective. A.N might be a bit weird and not really feature much combat but it is just beautiful!

I'm also a fan of Full Metal Jacket!

Cheers Mac. Good clip, haven't seen that film, I'll look it up. It's easy to forget that the Australians participated in the Vietnam War whilst Harold Wilson refused to let us get involved.

I think history proved old Harold right, He saw what had happened with the French and kept well out. Remember during that era we had Borneo, Aden etc going on. Only they were kept very low profile and many are unaware of these actions.

I think Saving Private Ryan was a pretty good war film.

Boys in Company C was a good Vietnam film.

"We were soldiers" is very good also, men.

"Devil's Brigade"

I like the "wanking machine" they make for the padre in "Odd angry shot"

I like those, but once found myself enjoying another R. Lee Ermey Viet Nam-era movie: "The Siege of Firebase Gloria". More classic scenes from the Gunny!!! Worth a look.

It has to be 'Dad's Army'. A raw look at the traumatic experiences of Britain's Home Guard during the 2nd WW. Some graphic footage that set the tone for The Deer Hunter, Platoon, Apocalypse Now etc

I still get goose bumps at the cry: "They don't like it up 'em."

Has anyone seen the one out now, "Hurt Locker"? Pretty intense, and well done!

The Deerhunter is a true classic, I had my Meryl Streep too. Or rather didn't

Dads army, hmmm, if Jerry didn't die laughing I guess we'd be boned!
