Quick legit check on 116500LN

Hey guys,
I found a good price on what I've been waiting a long time for. Maybe a little too good (relatively small premium) considering the usual market price and being unworn with stickers and everything. It's from abroad but the card matches the serial on the rehaut. They look legit. However, even though I have enough experience to identify most fakes, what I've seen coming out lately has freaked me out. I've never owned a Daytona but have tried them on of course. IMO it's authentic. The font looks right to me but I'm aware of the 3 and 9 subdial spacing issue on fakes. For some reason the white ones look like the subdials are further from the markers than the black dial versions. I guess it's an illusion. Not the highest res photos, but let me know what you think. The watch won't last long and I have to make up my mind within the next day or 2. I'm really fed up of waiting for the AD to hook me up. Thanks!

Even if the watch in the pics is real, do you trust the seller enough to ship that watch? Sending pics is easy. Why is he selling it for only a small markup?

You're in NYC so you have good international flights. Would it be possible to pick the watch up in person? Cost of the ticket might pay off in piece of mind.

It would be almost impossible for a fake to replicate the Rolex stickers, but as poster above mentioned, you may not receive the watch in the pics.

Make him set the time to 7:11 and run the chrono to 52 seconds and send you a pic with his name and date on a sticky note. That can verify he actually has the watch.

I’m not sure on real or fake but I would not put that kinda cash down unless I was 100% sure it was real, not by letting people on TRF tell u it’s real or fake by a couple photos.

It would be a local deal. No shipping so there's no danger involved. He has sent me pics of the card with serial. I'm going to call the AD and confirm early tomorrow morning.

If they can duplicate a whole watch I can’t imagine the stickers would stump them, but what do I know

The latest fake of this looks very good so be careful guys. This one is real.

But as said could be a bait and switch so be sure of the seller and of any recourse you have.

I've seen some videos on YT with a Chinese guy using a time grapher and what they are now putting out is pretty scary. This is not like the garbage from a decade or even 5 years ago. With PM it's not so much a problem (weight is a dead giveaway) but it definitely is with SS.

Thanks a lot! This is what my gut feeling was. Now I just have to make sure the guy is 100% willing to meet me at a bank or AD. No funny stuff and no shipping.

Small premium for a watch like this is too good to be true. Beware!!

Definitely. I have pretty good intuition for the most part and have dealt with enough people to know when to walk away. I have always been suspicious when people offer something for less than usual, but it does happen. I've done it myself when I've wanted to move something quickly, albeit not something of this value.

I recommend doing a FaceTime with the seller if he is willing not to just view the watch but now you have his contact information if you need to get a hold of the seller. The white dial Daytona sub dials are further apart than the black dial on the 116500

Anything shady about how he wants the transaction to take place? If so, back out.

I just contacted him to tell him I'll take it. Waiting for a reply. It's Sunday evening so I probably won't hear back until tomorrow morning. Anything other than a face to face deal is a deal breaker for me.

Recommend that you use a form of payment that provides you some protection, just in case it’s a really good fake and you open the back to find that it isn’t a Rolex movement.

Good luck!

Agree. Might turn out ok, but not worth the risk.

It’s an optical illusion because of the sub rings. I compared mine and noticed it. It’s been discussed before with other members.

I think best option is a face to face deal at RSC. They can verify movement and make sure it’s not listed as stolen.

Also if that all works out I would not let the watch out of your sight don’t leave the building etc. that prevents a bait n switch.
