Sub Date or EXII
Hi. It is time that I need to let one of my fav Rolexes go. So, help me decide please.
If you were only to keep one of them, what will you choose? Sub date or EXII? |

I would consider the following questions to help you find the answer.
Why do you want (need) to let one go? If you require funds, which watch would you get more for in the current market place? What is the comparative condition and how would this affect value? Do you have any sentimental attachment to either? Do you wear one more frequently than the other? After deeply considering the answers to these and possibly other questions, I would sell the Explorer. But only you know the answer. Good luck....

Sub. It's nice to have the GMT function but I think Sub would be my pick to stay with. Tough one though.

The Sub is definitely THE iconic Rolex, a classic, but...
It's definitely the one I see the most on the street, at openings, restaurants, etc. I've often considered getting an Exp2 just because it's unusual. And, if you care about collector's value, the watches that tend to appreciate the most are the ones that didn't sell well and were discontinued. Look at the orange-hand Exp2 for a great example of this phenomenom. I think that black dial Exp2 that no one seems to want lately, which can be commonly had second-hand for under 3K, is someday going to be quite valuable.

Tougher than most think. I considered those two along with the SD. Had a hard time deciding. Came down to the LV and white EXP-chose the LV but I am still wanting the Exp II.

All of the comments are useful and helpful - I do think a lot about letting one of my Rolex go coz I got a PAM and need funding for a new ...may be... a Daytona :) GMT function is very useful and I have this on my EXII and my PAM89. Sub Date is one of the classics, and it goes with many occasions. It's hard to cut it straight, and again, thanks for everyone's help. I think I have the answer on my mind. Cheers, |

Get them both, either at the same time (better discount) or one after the other...
Between them both you'll have all of the classic sports Rolex bases covered Cheers

In other words ..... any other rolex more expensive than the sub is better than the sub? After all, the price says everything...
