WTS: Explorer II 1655 Orange Hand
I am selling my Rolex Explorer II 1655 Orange Hand watch. I bought this watch new in 1982.
More pics at: http://s420.photobucket.com/albums/pp290/carf500/Rolex/ I have the original box, original receipt (no serial number), warranty certificate (wrong serial number but my name/address, a recent thread), A "Rolex Explorer" booklet, a "Your Rolex Oyster" booklet, and a large "Oyster" booklet (all booklets 1982 and excellent/as-new), as well as an extra band link. It has been serviced twice by Rolex, through AD's, but no paperwork. Serial: 5.3 million. I believe that someone else got my warranty certificate, and I got theirs - no way to fix this after 25 years. Worn daily for ten years, has been sitting in the hall closet for the last 15 years. Note the sharp edges. Somewhat scratched from normal use, much of the paint inside the numbers is worn off, so finicky folks may want to have it polished after the sale. Go back and look at the dial. . . A couple of interesting things. The pointed Rolex crown. Better yet, look at the "Superlative Chronometer" and "Officially Certified". The "C's" line up vertically, making it a "Rail Dial" watch. Prof. Rolex's detailed post on Explorer II's in WatchTalkForums.com (another recent thread) indicates that this is a very rare thing in a 1655 Explorer II. A rare style of a rare watch, it seems. I would be thrilled to have the buyer meet me in Atlanta, so we can go to a Rolex Jeweler and have them authenticate the watch. $16,000. Wire transfer only. US/Canada Shipping free. Seven day return policy, all materials must be returned of course. Money returned after dial/case/bracelet/movement authenticated by me. I would like to speak on the phone with any potential buyers. I will respond rather quickly to all PM/email requests (EST US). If I haven't responded in a reasonable period of time, please try again. PM/email requests get my full name, telephone number, and physical address. Chris atlantametro@windstream.net |
