Why no love for 5960P?
I’m wearing my 5960P grey dial today and just love the watch. Annual calendar, chrono, power reserve, day/night indicator, platinum. $40K. What am I missing?

Great watch!
Unfortunately they just made too many of them in far too many variants to preserve value. That should not dampen your enjoyment as you got in at a great level.
Congratulations |

$40K was rough figure. Agreed $45K seems to be norm.

It’s a fantastic watch!!! And for the money, one of the best deals around. It’s a lot of watch for less than a basic nautilus. I put mine on a gray alligator strap and it looks magnificent!!!

I had bought the 5960p grey dial twice , I really like the 5960P. But I think the overproduction of it plus the fact that strap watches in general are doing terrible on the market doesn’t help

They made a ton. I wish it didn’t have an annual calendar or else I’d be game.

Been wondering the same.. it has great specs with in-house chrono AND annual calendar. Only negative I've found is the relative chunkiness with 13-14mm height and 50mm lug-to-lug. Most attractive for me is also 5960P-016 or grey dial ones.

It’s a great watch, I even prefer the grey dial, which is probably the most common

Generally there is no love for the 5960 series. I think Patek over produced the reference including the steel version. ADs could not sell these watches for years and almost every AD I have visited had a 5960 in stock. I can recall few years ago one of the special order 5960/1A-011 (rarest of all versions) was sold significantly below MSRP.

Very tempting reference given quality/ design/ functionality to price ratio…

This is definitely platinum. And 5960P is also in platinum, plus steel. Any particular reason though? Is it the face being more busy than the perpetual chronographs? |

Oops I messed up with the reference, I thought it was the 5205. And yes 5905p
Is cool. But for some reason I missed more the 5960p than the 5905p No hate here I had at some point all these references Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To be honest, I thought the 5905P face was weird for a while. I changed my mind when a serious collector took me aside and told me to consider it looked like that because you have an intersection of annual calendar, flyback (not just plain) chrono, and platinum case.
Then the 5960P also looks great and has a unique place in Patek history. The person said a true fan appreciates all this beyond Nautilus hype, and I came to agree. But I still don't understand why these works of art are still well below retail. All I can think of is, at that point someone would just consider a perpetual, and with the hype on sport watches, much less people think of annual calendars as a great in-between for calatravas and the serious perpetuals. |

The reason is because the masses of people that really don’t care about the watches, those people that care of the image/bling became a huge part of the market . So the demand went up. I remember how it was before , 90% of the watches were below retail in the market , fun times. We lost money and a lot , but we could buy whatever we wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It gave me the chance to buy a platinum complication below retail (instead of a Nautilus at 10x retail) while I was wondering if the world would ever get back to normal, so no complaints!
Perfectly happy to be sitting at a table where the boys are fawning over someone wearing an entry level steel Daytona and overlook the Patek at the table. |
