Patek 5167 or AP Royal Oak 15400ST

Guys, I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these. I'm leaning towards Patek 5167 because of better resale and brand but AP Royal Oak does look really nice as well.

If Patek, would you get the bracelet or rubber strap?

If there's a 5k difference from AP to Patek (more expensive), is it worth it? I wear a suit 5 days a week and I'm looking for one watch to wear as everyday with suits and polo.

Thanks for your help.

5167 on bracelet if u like steel bracelet... The only think i would go for the 15400st is the bling bling of the bracelet else other things aside, the patek 5167 is a more solid buy.. better water resistance, better price appreciation, better accuracy 4hz vs 3hz..

U can get AP for a bigger discount form AD but i bet the Patek almost 0% discount or even selling above list price..

Personally I would not base the purchase on resale as the first criteria. Both Brands have their charm and plenty of fans. I would only consider the 5167 if it is on Rubber but if planning to wear this for everyday and sometimes with suits I would go with the RO and also look at the 15202. The RO bracelet is as good as it gets. Not a big fan of the Aquanaut bracelet and since you mentioned resale I don't foresee that piece being in much demand compared to its Rubber version. Best of luck in deciding

5167 on rubber. I'd also consider the 15202.

Tough one. Have the aqua on rubber...thinking of flipping for a 15400 blue though. AP bracelet + blue = hard to beat for me

Aquanaut on rubber all the way. More comfortable, versatile and it's a Patek.

Two very different watches.. I would suggest the 15202 as well. Either silver or black dial.

Audemars

Audemars. I prefer it over the Nautilus and the Aquanaut. It was the original Gerald Genta Octagonal. If you can afford it, you should go for the Chronograph though. Here's mine.

Is the AP 15202 difficult to obtain? I know that the Nautilus is.

Currently yes.. I was probably wrong about a black dial but pretty sure they made the silver dial 15202 at one point.

Not really. I believe davidsw is selling one right now and there are several available other places at or under retail.

Yes, the blue on the 15400 is magnificent. I would take this over the 5167, but the 5164 would be a tough choice.

There were a lot of dial variations of the previous 202 but the current 40th anniv has the best dial design imo.

I'd take the Patek over the 15400. 15300 may have me leaning there

Both are fantastic choices. I agree that Aquanaut looks best on the rubber. The strap and dial just flow together.

I'd go 5167, but is a bit more casual of a watch. 15400 is perfect if you need something more dressy.

Are blue dial Royal Oaks only sold at AP boutiques? Forgive my unfamiliarity with the brand, but I thought that I heard that.

Try them both on if that's possible. 5167 on tropical strap super comfortable, APs are comfortable too and dressier IMO. If I had to keep just one, it'd be the AP.
