Vintage omega seamaster chrono

Hey guys,
Came across a beautiful cushion case seamaster from the 70s at my local vintage dealer. Was wondering if you guys thought $1200 was a fair price for it. Dial has been refinished but seems as though they did a great job and it has a 861 movement.

Thanks in advance!

Is that a Ploprof in the background? I have not handled this model to know pricing but the dial does hurt it. One of the more versed guys will chime in soon I'm sure.

I believe that is the ploprof. Far too large for me but certainly an unique piece!

dial is definatly one of the better refinishes I've seen. since it has a refinished dial, the price seems fair to me. Has it been serviced?

No his prices are inflated. I stopped by that EXACT guy near Bowery in Chinatown.

He wanted 6500 for the ploprof. There was also a Steve McQueen and a JLC Memovox Polaris there. All the price points were really high for the condition and I can't stand dealers that throw around such nice pieces and putting more dings and scratches when it could be handled in a much nicer fashion.

Thanks for your input guys. I think I'm a buyer at 1k, maybe 1,100... I will stop by later today and see if he will budge on his price since he usually doesn't.

Lol well when you're ready for a Speedy let me know my buddy and I are weekend vintage warriors now. It's a fun and slippery slope with vintage.

That MK II with the racing dial looks neat.

I know a dealer from NY that does an antique show circuit he shows up with showcases piled and jumbled with good watches. Rolex, Omega, Tudor, tons of LeCoultre and they are all rolling around inside jewelry cases. And to top it off his prices are CRAZY high. I don't get it either.

guess it's to help "age" the watch like a fine wine. People won't believe a beautiful vintage unless beat the heck up right?

I did observe a pile of watches under there....

Would love to go vintage hunting in NYC.

Be interesting to know how nice they were before they went into his watch grinder.

The watches thrown together in the picture below are cheaper models 50-200 dollars. He keeps the high end stuff in a pretty decent manner for a vintage shop.

As long as you are happy with it that is all that matters. But it does look pretty good in the pics.

No budging on the price, but the extra 100 bucks doesn't bother me too much. Speedmaster classic is next.

Congrats! John is a good guy and I would say his prices are fair compared to many other places in NYC. If I had that many watches I would probably wouldn't be half as organized...I already have trouble with maybe 15.

Congrats! I recently bought myself a 1960 stainless steel Omega cal 600 that I absolutely love. I can finally start wearing it soon since I got the new lizard strap for it in the mail yesterday( the strap it currently has is a crappy Kreisler strap). Glad that you decided to buy it.
