I was working in the city at the time. I was with people that lost family members. I lost a dear friend. Everyday that I commuted in and out I saw the smoke rising. For months on end.

I think about 9/11 too often. And it breaks my heart.

Was a terrible day. Those of us in the area all knew someone who died that day. Driving down the west side highway the towers stood out. Driving down the first time when they were gone was just indescribable.

I remember and honor those who we lost that day as well as those who still succumb to the aftermath.

First responders, victims’ families/friends and our current generation of military all share a common goal to never forget and “never again”.

Thank you, Tim, and everyone else, for your thoughts. We all lost so much on that fateful day. For me, in a previous decade that seemed so innocent and vibrant (the 1980's), I took a job in the WTC and spent 6 years working in 1 WTC and living in NYC. In 1989, my department was relocated to another city, but I never really stopped thinking about my life in New York. When the attacks occurred, it really affected me. I spent six years of my life in the World Trade Center! I remember having lunch so many times outside on the WTC plaza, or along the Hudson River. There was a TKTS booth in 2 WTC where you could purchase same-day tickets to Broadway plays. After work, we often walked over to the South Street Seaport for a few cold beers. There was even an episode of Miami Vice (Prodigal Son, season 2, ep 1) filmed in part in and around the WTC. I'll never forget any of the brave souls who were lost or the incredible responders who exhibited courage beyond belief.

Never Forget.
I'm from a small town about 10 miles west of Midtown. I was in high school at the time and the skyline can, barely, be seen on a clear day. I'll never forget the smoke from the view out over the fields.
I'll never forget the events of that day. How the schools office was calling kids that had parents in the city to the office, how our photography teacher wheeled in a TV to see what the hell was going on since she had a son in a private HS in the city, how it took my uncle 3 days to get home after walking to Brooklyn to stay with coworkers...

Still feels like yesterday. Remember my dad and his fellow fire fighters leaving to go aide in the search and rescue. Also remember hearing the news that we got Bin Laden at his honorary retirement dinner for 30 years of service after he had died on duty. Never Forget

I worked in the City and saw the second tower come down. A coworker called the office who lived down in Battery Park City yelling he could see people jumping. My other coworker who was with me at the office was frantic because his wife worked in the Towers and couldn't get a hold of her. I had to leave him in that situation and felt terrible, but had to do what I needed to do. Fortunately she made it onto a ferry and was okay. A friend from high school was killed and his wife was interviewed on the news. We lost clients at my job. I couldn't leave the City that day because mass transit was shut down so I stayed at my boss' apartment. I walked from the 20's to the 70's in loafers are remembered the soles of my feet burning. I took a long way because I averted populated places like Times Square and such as I didn't know if there would be another attack and figured these spots would be prime. I couldn't call anyone since the phones were jammed up. We saw all the people covered in dust hours later who walked all the way home from Ground Zero to the Upper West Side. The next morning, after not sleeping all night, glued to the TV, we went to the office, about 30 blocks from Ground Zero. It was a ghost town. We were walking in the middle of Fifth Avenue with no cars. Reminded me of some apocalyptic movie. For weeks we could smell the burning metal every day. I took the train home the next afternoon and there was the police from my local town swarmed at the train station monitoring people who got off. There's a plaque now at that station with the names of the people lost from my town.

I remember seeing the smoke coming from the city from my high school.
Could only imagine how devastating it had been.

i remember visiting new york in the '90s and looking up at those towers, it seemed a miracle that buildings could go that high,

I remember exactly what i was doing 18 years ago, when my brother rang to tell me the terrible news, my friend and i, were working on a roofing contract, we got straight in the van and drove down to the pub, the landlord did not know what the hell we were talking about, he put the t.v. on, and the three of us, just watched in silence as the towers crumbled.

When i think of the terror, that the passengers, and the people in the trade centre went through, i feel like, what is the fkin point in anything?, if this can happen to innocent people.
