I want a nice timepiece to wear with a blue leather (maybe croc) strap
Does anyone have any suggestions, I would like it to be larger than 38mm. My price range is anything up to 8k any help would be appreciated. I have a Rolex datejust ii and love the size.

Panerai
Model Number pam00282 Retails for $7500 in the US (but you can do better) Its 40mm and I think it works well in both a formal setting or on the weekend wearing jeans.

One more, I know most here look @ TAG in an unfavorable light. But what about the Monaco? I had one an always got great compliments (way more than with a Rolex!). Mine was all black and leather. It was the HEUER limited ed series. It got destroyed in a motorcycle accident and I havent replaced it.
The Monaco Steve McQueen fits the bill for about half the budget. Very nice watch, really. No, really.

i recently went to NYC and happened to walk into the breguet boutique. I saw a watch with a blue croc strap and almost died. It was so awesome I am going to pull the trigger on something soon

Would this fit your needs? One of my absolute favorites. Might be a tad over your budget but I bet you could find one for under $8k

IMO, a blue gator strap works really well with white or silvery-white dials. White or silver dials with a moonphase are also a nice option for the blue strap. I bought an old, blue dial, GP chrono recently and put it on an inexpensive, blue croc that I had laying around. It looks nice but a matte gator with white stitching would be better.
Maurice Lacroix makes several models with solid silver dials that have a near white color. Any of those watches are perfect with dark blue straps and contrast stitching. ML's can be had for not too much money on the used market, if you look around for their Masterpiece line. |

AP ROO navy?
EDIT: oops, didn't see the budget the first time around...you could get a pre-owned DJ, add some end links and you're good to go. |

Perhaps this zenith will work with you, it has the famous el primero movement, unfortunately it has a black strap,
you gotta change the black strap for the right blue strap and there you go. hope this helps |

One of the best I've ever owned. There are still a few new ones out there, but not many. |
