Looking forward to join the AP community

Hi guys,

wanted to ask to AP owners and experts what would be the best way to get an AP.
I heard it is kind of hard to go through the boutiques as pieces are slowly allocated, which is by the way my favourite way of purchasing a watch as I kind of like all the experience.

The piece I am looking into is the 15510ST with white/silver dial... I was also checking on Chrono and the prices are fair but wanted to hear if maybe this specific one it's kind of easier to get in the Boutique...

Thanks for any reply or suggestion!

The white 15510st is a doable first watch. Just need to visit the boutique to register interest and then visit every 1-2 months to reiterate the interest.

Don’t waste your time at any boutique……AP more than likely won’t sell you anything. I asked for a Royal oak offshore 3 years ago and the boutique director at Bal Harbor told me it shouldn’t be a problem to get one allocated that year…..never heard from them. They will feed you BS that they only get x amount of pieces per year blah blah blah. But on Instagram I see the same high profile clients getting multiple allocations per year. I went grey and am very happy with my decision.

I have been trying to get a blue or grey 26715 or 15550 from the Atlanta Boutique for over 2 years as they fit my wrist better and thought they would be easier to get being smaller sizes. Over 2 years no watch and this week the boutique here closed permanently. Such a frustrating process and i agree I like the experience and don't want to go grey. Now I have to either start over at another boutique out of state or wait for the new AP in Atlanta to open again.

Thank you for your replies, I see that my fear is actually a reality. The problem is also that leaving in Sorrento by the Amalfi Coast, the closest AP boutiques are in Rome or Capri, which are not that easy accessible to visit that often from where I live. I'll porbably have to look forward different solutions...even if not my favourite choice indeed.

It’s possible (but not common) to obtain the 15510 silver as a first piece from a boutique. Depends on the boutique (I’ve had a subpar experience with the Bal Harbour boutique as well, so not isolated to above anecdote) and the sales associate. If you connect with a SA and build the relationship, it’s do-able. My first piece was a 26240st silver from AP House.

I recently got my first AP from the boutique after 7 years of wait. It is a beautiful blue 26715ST, and I'm a proud AP owner today.

Congratulations! Did you come in the boutique and maintenance contact with your SA over the period of 7 years? 7 years are long... I am glad you are finally offered that AP

On off that SA has whatsapp me to consider ROO, Code and white dial ROC which I'm not keen on. I stick with my choice all this while.

I think obtaining a watch from a boutique is dependent on the SA, a little persistence, and luck/timing. I had an interest list in Chicago for maybe 2-3 years and was offered nothing. However, in 2023, I was offered a black 43mm Offshore (bought) then two months later a silver 38mm ROC (bought) and then another two months later a steel Code chronograph (passed - timing wasn't right financially). I trimmed my list to really desirable pieces like the Starwheel and Jumbo so understandably haven't gotten any calls from AP since. I still email my SA periodically and will visit when I'm in the city so everything is great and I love my APs.

OP, if you're looking for 1-2 APs, or want to make a move soon, then going with the secondary market may make more sense for you.

Thank you for the advise and your experience shared, makes totally sense to me. I will try to visit couple of boutiques around and give my interest. I have no immediate rush, so I will see what happens in 1-2 year time windown and then evaluate if to go grey
