Phishing scam taking place now

I got a message from a user in TRF asking about a watch I have for sale, and provided me an email address. No one gives me emails so I thought it was a bit sketchy but I figured I’d message them to see what would happen. They sent me an email with a link supposedly to TRF to “display their collection” but in reality it’s a phishing link to try and take your login details. I tried to notify the user that their account has been hacked but it seems they disabled PM responses as well to that account.

Affected user account is omar10213245

I don’t think the user himself is a scammer because there’s a lot of posts that he’s made in the past but clearly it’s in the hands of a scammer at the moment. Not sure if admin can do anything about it

Thank you very much for sharing this with us. Unfortunately I only saw it after clicking the link. At least I quickly changed my password. Frustrating though for sure.

I am a member of a knife forum and this is a well-known scam.

Someone out of the blue DMs a member and makes a lucrative offer for a knife the member posted BUT IS NOT FOR SALE. If the member bites, then the scam commences in various ways.

Oh, the scammer is always either a fairly new member or a not active one with no record of purchases/sales on the forum.
