Titanic 2005 Expedition Photos

If anybody is interested, here is a link to "behind the scenes" from the expedition I led to the wreck site of the R.M.S. Titanic in August 2005. A documentary on the expedition and its findings will air on The History CHannel in the United States on Sunday, February 26, 2006.

Neat pics, Dave. What about shots of the wreck itself? Have you got any of those you can post?

Ed,

I have dozens of photos of the wreck itself, but they are at the office. I do not, however, have any underwater shots from 2005. I was too busy searching, running the HDTV camera, changing tapes, keeping track of time on both my SD and Daytona, and generally trying not to run into anything, to take photos through the port hole. Sorry!

Go over to the Iceland photos on the same site if you get bored. I never got around to posting the Galapagos or Belize photos, but this gives you a sense of what I have been up to. 2005 was a busy year for me.

I'm not posting the link to my law firm web site, but you know how to find it if you are REALLY bored. I was busy there too.

Actually, I promised my friend at Rolex NY I would take that photo and send it to her after she arranged for the back of my Sea-Dweller to be engraved with the Centennial Logo of The Explorers Club before the expedition. I understand this photo has also made the rounds in Geneva.

Hey Dave, long time no see (I used to be known as JohnnyCanuck).

BTW, what's Chatterton like? I see his show on TV all the time, but I prefer The Sea Hunters, personally.

Cool... he seems like a pretty stand up guy. You have to unflappable and reliable when diving deep like he does. When I said I prefer Sea Hunters, Btw, I wasn't knocking JC, just a preference for the SH show. His show is a great second choice when SH is a repeat!

Yes, as of March 2005. I was in the AD picking out wedding rings and they asked me if I liked Daytonas. I said yes and went back to looking at rings.

Later on, when I came back to pick up the rings, they asked me again if I liked Daytonas. I said yes again, but this time they said: "No, we mean would you like to BUY a Daytona, because we have one in the back?"

I bought it on the spot, for MSRP. They even apologized to me for not being able to give me a discount.

Very cool story!! I remember the pending nuptuals, that was right around the time of the 'event' that caused most of us to land here, congrats again by the way.

But that is a great addition to an already great collection. I also remember you shopping to replace to the sub as that was earmarked for your son, very cool!!

Yes, 2005 was a year of renewal for me.

Donna and I were married on the beach in Belize at the end of April. Belize was too f***ing hot, so we went motorcycling in Iceland for our honeymoon in June, one week after I got back from diving in the Galapagos.

We did the trip that is the subject of this thread in August, then a week later I had to go to London for two whole days, returning in time to go straight from the airport to my surprise 40th birthday party. I also visited New Hampshire three times, California four times, New York a bunch, and Boston and Florida twice each (I think?). All on business.

The traveling stopped when we moved into and renovated a new house in November. My head is still spinning from all the activity.
