Seiko Dive Watches
Hey all,
Don't know much about the Seiko dive watches, but they're interesting - a cool subgroup of dive watches that a lot of people don't think about. From what I read they're good quality but not super-expensive, yet. Could be a good investment? I'm looking at a 6105 / 8110 now - what should I look for in these? I like this model - it's endearingly ugly. Thoughts? Here are some pictures of the watch I'm looking at - it's supposedly cleaned, running, not restored: |

They are collectible in the respect that they have great history and offer tremendous value. I don't know that I would buy vintage with all of the great stuff they are producing now.

deleted because I misread and thought it said "drive" as in spring drive rather than "dive." oops!

What's a reasonable range to pay for these? The earliest models seem to be going in the $500 or more range - this one is later and might not bring that despite having a hack movement that the earlier ones lack.
I've found another one available that apparently is known as the "Poor Man's Dive Watch" - another Seiko, only good for 75m. I'll keep my eye on it but don't know that I'll go that way. |
