That's a nice one Caleb, I think it'd be perfect for taking a beating. I don't see too many of those, I don't get it. It's a great looking watch.

Thanks. I like the GMT function and Omegas are a lot cheaper than Rolexes so do you know of any other GMTs that I might like?

Have you checked out the Omega "Great White" GMT ??
I've owned that watch (bought it brand new in 2003, then ended up returning it 2 weeks later for my SMP 2531.80 :) ). Despite the fact that I've only owned it for a few weeks, it was a fantastic watch. If I were to get a GMT (besides the GMTII-C), it would be the Great White, hands down ! Edit: Looks like Kyle already posted a picture of the Great White ! :) |

The Omega GMT is a great watch. The only issues I've had with that model are minor.
The spring in the clasp, and the pushers can give you problems. The spring can wear out, but cost about $10 on Otfrei.com The pushers can get funk around them, and need extra cleaning. Biggest issue Is when I refurb them for customers. The thin high polish links are a pain to polish. Those little hairlines will drive you crazy. The case, and movement are solid, along with the ease of changing the insert. |

I've been looking around for an Omega Great White GMT for some time. In the last six months, every one that's been listed has sold quickly, and there has been 3-5 standing WTB ads on the various watch sites the entire time. Very interesting that this seemingly ordinary Omega with a modest original price tag is now attracting so much demand and attention. Think it could well be a high demand collector's piece in the future.

Bought my Great White GMT in 2004 altho I rarely wore it because I have other watches. Love the watch, never liked the band. I've had mine on leather within months after I bought the watch. The watch looks a hell of a lot better on a leather strap! I recently had it serviced by Omega and it took six weeks and $400 bucks. She is looking pretty good and running quite smoothly.
dsio and Renoir-- PM me if you're really interested in buying a Great White. I'm open for negotiations. |

It seems the best of both worlds; you get a Sub and a GMT all in one watch. The movement is a modified 2892-A2. Omega add 2 jewels, improve the winding efficiency and refinish the movement. Then they replace the escapement with a co-axial escapement. Nothing to worry about there in terms of quality and reliability. The 2894-A2 apparently gets the same first time percentage pass rates on COSC as the 3135.

i own the seamaster gmt you're looking at and use it as my work watch, which i consider an everyday watch. couldn't be more happy with it. being a restaurant manager i would say it take a good beating and holds up perfect. also you don't really have to worry about the plc's cause there small enough to really not worry about scratching, but adds that nice elegant look to it.

Hi Mate,
I like the Omega GMT watches and in fact I have owned the Great White which was an awesome watch, ![]() I have also owned the Bond GMT and in fact I got one when they first come out. This watch is pure quality with a good chunky feel and the display back, white gold surrounds (Something shiney and I assume it was white gold like the Rolex) around the indices which happened way before the co-ax bonds and speaking of which, also the co-ax movement. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think you could not go wrong with this watch as it combines the iconic Bond watch with a GMT, with a dive watch, that is a dress watch. ![]() Cheers |

I love the Great White and has always amazed me why Omega stopped making that model.

As far as I heard it has same quality of the Rolex GMT II C or even better by some measures for less than half the price. I personally think it is a great watch.

Many watches have the GMT markers with just alternate indices. I prefer the GMT dial to have all the 24 segments numbered. Some Omega watches have this, others don't.

Sorry for hi-jacking
I just service my GMT 2538 from Omega service center but the date don't jump after 12 midnight instead it jump at 01.35, i told the technician before i send the watch in for service it jump right after 12.00 midnight. He told me that this movement is normal for the date to jump between 21:00-05:00
