Just bought an OF 126519 Ghost from my AD. I have been considering swapping it for a new 116509 WG on the grey market (previous gen, full WG bracelet with WG bezel and either steel or blue dial). They seem to have similar prices on the grey market at the moment.
Should I keep the OF Ghost or swap it for the previous gen on a bracelet with either a steel or blue dial? They are all stunning watches, but I have my reservations due to the practicality of the ceramic bezel and OF strap on the 126519 versus the beautiful bracelet on the 116509 with its easily scratchable WG bezel. This is a gift to myself for my wedding this year, and I am planning on wearing either one with my tux on the wedding night. I also want to keep long-term value in mind. Any feedback would be much appreciated! |

Having personally just got 126519, I wouldn’t want to swap … yes the 509 is a lovely piece but having got Oysterflex I wouldn’t want to go back to bracelet that’s just my opinion …

I like both and have not seen the 126519 yet? The bezel ring looks sharp on the 12.
Enjoy the one you have and congrats on your wedding and the ghost. Cheers! |

Wear it. You could always trade it in later

I would swap for the full gold 116509.
Can’t go wrong with the steel or the blue. This way you have a full gold bracelet AND can put on a rubber strap if you want to. Only giving up the ceramic bezel and glidelock, but that isn’t a deal breaker for a full gold watch. DO IT!

Picked up 126519 recently. Oysterflex is the way to go. Much more comfortable than Oyster on my Sub or even Jubilee on my DJ41. Especially in summer.
Leather straps should be legal only on dress watches. |

I’d have a 126519LN over pretty much any Daytona unless we are going very vintage, very platinum or very Le Mans.

I’d swap for the flue dial 509 in a heart beat. My favorite watch. I also have the ghost, also a great watch. But if one had to go it would be the ghost.
I think you will probably have to add money up do the trade, unless you are looking at an older 509. New ones / unworn you would likely have to put in some money. Greys always buy at wholesale and sell at retail. Take 20% off what they would sell it for and that’s what you get and you buy at the +20% price. |

Before going to the 116509 look at the endlinks that are not flush to the case on this ref (and so goes for 116505 and 116506). That’s something that would bother me - they actually corrected it on the new refs.
I would prefer the 126519LN vs 116509 for the ceramic bezel, the beautiful dial and 12 series that I find more attractive. |

I have the 519 and 509 - both 11 series
Your question is a very very tough one to answer, only because the 519 is a very good looking watch. I tend to take that one on holiday with me a lot, it's a very easy watch to wear. However, the 509, blue dial is just stunning. Steel dial is also nice. When you put the full gold Daytona on, it does feel special (more special than the OF and in the case of the steel dial WG OF thats a real looker, it feels more special than that) so thats why I'm leaning towards the 509 in this question. |

Keep the 126. The OF can be worn casually, formally, and elegantly. It’s the one you got, no messing about with trading. Enjoy it and congrats on the upcoming festivities.
