Silly Question
Hi Guys,
I am happy that I have joined this big family by purchasing my first Rolex yesterday. However, I am a bit paranoid now that I had purchased a Rolex that is on display. The reason is that there is no more stock and I don't wish to wait for the next shipment. How many of you guys have done that and is it alright? I have purchased from a reputable AD. Please share your input. |

Welcome to TRF. I bought my Rolexes from AD stock. I really can't remember whether they were on display or from the back room. In any event, I don't see a problem with buying a watch that is on display. Enjoy.

No problem ShOcks, at least you got to see it that way, as long as it had all the stickers and stuff on it thats the best way to do it. I always start by looking at the display models, and it's only if I find something I don't like about it will I ask if they have any others in stock and I keep going until I find one that feels right for me.
Congrats on the new watch btw, what did you get? Lets see some pictures! |

That's alright as long as there is no significant defect. Take a good look at it before you start wearing it.
I've done that many times and once a watch is worn, it's not new anymore. so enjoy it and love to see photos

There are so many damn stickers on there you should be fine!
My Sub was out of the case as I bought it one day before the price increase in March. My GMT IIc was bought out of the back. Both are flawless.

Most of the time the watch purchased is the one out of the case.. There is such a turnover on most models that I doubt the one you got was there very long at all.
Enjoy your new prize....

That can be true, but I know my local dealer has had some of their watches for a long time. Like the TT daytona that is an F series. Or the lady date just with soda crystal that has been there since 2004. Or the Sub LV that has been there for well over 6 months. That one gets handled a lot. My friend just bought a Y explorer II out of the case.

Yep, I would not worry about it. Most of mine have been on display. Some here would not purchase like this - they want a "fresh" one... I agree with what is said here. Most, especially the sport models if on display have not been there long. If nothing stands out as obvious or if you want to take a loop and go over it - you should be fine. Also, remember, the watch is under warranty if bought from an AD. So, no worries. Enjoy - tell us what you got and how the experience was...

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your input and kind words. Please pardon my photography skill. Wrist shot With bezel cover Without bezel cover I hope I can get a Explorer 2 White Face soon. I am so in love with the clean white look of the Explorer. I think I need to stop browsing this forum and if not, I will get myself addicted very fast. Hahaha One more question. For those with TT GMT 2-C, what size does your box come with? Mine seems to like the smallest size and without any GMT 2 books as well. Did my AD forgot to give me or ? |

When I got my Sub, I passed on the display model. I didn't see any obvious defects, but the plastic stickers were falling off and it was filthy. I got a brand-new, never touched model in the back.

Years ago, I purchased an F-serial platty for my wife when D-serial was current. The watch was in the display case with all the stickers. The AD gave me a deal and the watch has been running fine. In this case, the old stock looked the same as new stock.
