Limited Edition watches...just got this email from the mighty O Feb 09, 2012 - 10:18 AM

I was asking about 3574.51 Last Man on the Moon LE of 3,000 released in 2002

Here is what I was told...

Dear Mr. Davis,

Thank you for your email.

Yes this is a limited edition timepiece. We still have pieces in stock to sell even though it was first released in 2002.

The timepieces do not have a manufacture date. This is still a active model, so watches are still being produced since 2002.

Best regards,

Omega Sales Support

So odd to me...but hey at least now I know!!!!

A limited edition piece that is still in production since 2002?!? How many pieces are they planning on making and how limited will this be?

Read the letter. 3000 pieces.

Not unusual to have LEs spread out over several years. If they dont sell, they may make less.

Not at all. Limited means thats the max - no more than 3000. i dont believe they are obligated to make all 3000.

In another email before these they confirmed that the watch was just sold to an Omega AD! I bought it only 3 or 4 weeks ago...

And mine is only 0272...maybe they would sell more if they released more?

Omega is famous for its "Limited Edition" watches. The new 50th Anniversary Bond Seamaster is limited to 11007 41mm pieces and an additional 3007 units. How many years (decades) will that watch be in production?

My JFK Commemorative was only 261 pieces and was a sell-out. The PO LM LE of 1948 pieces is now out of production and very difficult to find in stock anywhere. But these are the exceptions rather than the rule when it comes to Omega LEs.

Regardless, Mickey's "Last Man" is a nice Speedy Pro and I'm glad he was able to pick one up.

At Basel Omega gets an idea how much interest a new models gets.
Before Basel Omega decides how many there will be made, but if they only recieve fx 1000 orders they will then not produce the entire 3000 at once.

Here's mine:

A friend gave him an Omega "Ultra-thin" that JFK wore on his inauguration. Omega later purchased the watch at auction for $350K. It resides in the Omega museum in Bienne. In 2008, Omega reintroduced the watch as a LE commemorative.

The number on your watch has nothing to do with where they are in production. You may have received #3000 but only half the lot may be sold.

The Seattle boutique had the JFK watch when I was there last week, so they are still out there.
