Yacht-master 116622 Dark Rhodium

This particular model caught my attention just few weeks ago. Where everyone's attention, talk of the town and pictures were more on the new Daytona C, Airking and the new 39mm Explorer. I wonder has anyone here owned this watch? Actually i was trying to search some reviews about this new 116622 Dark Rhodium but there's not a lot out there. Some fresh pics here at the Trf would be lovely. Tell me what you think about this watch.

I saw the watch locally at an AD. It certainly is more to my liking than the OP 39mm....though the color scheme is exactly the same and I thought the OP was a sure bet until I had it on my wrist (underwhelmed). But personally I am still thinking the blue dial YM wins out for me. Either way, it's a great looking piece and the light blue really works.

Blue looks great but that Dark Rhodium is something that I don't see everyday. Got to check that watch.

hmmm...i had the sense that the new YM's dial is a bit brighter and livelier than the OP's darker grey tones?

It is certainly luscious looking in the pics I've seen, no doubt.

Yet to see one in the flesh, however.

I love everything about it except I wish the blue accents were a bit more navy/royal as opposed to sky/powder, but even that is frowning on me. Seems like a great reference.

Saw it, liked it. Still wonder if it's just a little too much bling for me. So wish it had black bezel from the rg / rubber. I'm sure this will be sideways.

That is a stunner....dial is definitely lighter than the Rhodium OP (may be just the pics)...I had one...but not too far off...my only issue with this piece are the PCL's...too blingy...

Definitely nice!! I would have a tough time deciding between this and the TT version. Both are wonderful!

Like most yachtmasters, it probably looks waaaayy better on your wrist on a sunny day than in photos or even in a display case. The heft, shine, and shimmer are quite impressive.

I agree with the above comment... they look much better "in the flesh" - I saw one in an AD in Singapore last week and I really liked it (hadn't taken much notice before) ...

cheers

I love the Rhodium but chose the blue dial. I had black dials already and I felt I needed a blue over the grey. I tell you this though my 16710 is my favorite watch but the YM is giving it a run for its money!! I love wearing it and looking at the dial. It wears SUPER comfortable. The lugs curve down around your wrist. Perfect size and proportions. Love the YM. It doesn't get a ton of love on the forum but it is a beautiful watch!!

I've always liked the YMs ever since. I've always found them to be very classy and an excellent combination of elegance and sports. I don't own one yet, but it's definitely on my wish list, and even considering a His and Hers, especially now that the Dark Rhodium also has a 37mm.

Just make me wonder how come they're not as popular as the other models. Is it about the price perhaps?

I'd expect the price point to have something to do with it. It's more money, no ceramic bezel (my personal pref), and has "Yacht" in the name.

If I'm going for just one watch, this one wouldn't be it due to the reasons I just listed. But as part of a collection, I think this one may find a place.

I also think it faced headwind coming out much later than the well established and known models like the Submariner

I think most people on watch forums, especially TRF and WUS, are all about the sporty, busy bezel, "tool watch" look. Plus, they like to say "classic", "icon" a lot, which the YM isn't. Lastly, it doesn't fit into a set category of sport or dress watch, which I think is a PLUS. It's more of a hybrid compared to the Subs, GMTs.

So which model would be an alternate choice to this (non YM)?
