Thinking about going PM
I really like the daydate 40, I currently have the yacht master 1 Sunray dial in blue. Im also in love with the blnr. Should I sell the yacht and get the daydate2
Or keep the yacht and add a blnr. Are PM models good value |

This is a personal call. DD and other PM watches are thought of as in a more prestigious grouping than stainless steel. If you like to have one forever watch, you might as well consolidate - if you like having a variety, then add more watches as you can afford them.

I prefer to have a mix of PM and SS in the collection. As a one only, it would be tough.

Hi,
If you can see yourself selling the Yacht Master and never missing it, and keeping your Day-Date for a long time, then it's worth it, absolutely. Any Day-Date makes a fine daily wearer, and can easily be the only watch in a collection. But no piece is worth selling something that you know you're going to regret parting with. If you're truly done with the YM, so to speak, or are confident that the Day-Date would be enough for you, then by all means go for it. But don't do a trade just because you think you're upgrading to something "better". If in your heart you prefer the YM to the Day-Date, you're going to regret it, despite the precious metal of the DD. |

Before selling, visualize life without the Yatchtmaster by storing it away for a few weeks. If by the end of the test you can indeed live without it you are ready to see it goes; if you get the urge to wear it don't sell it and rather save for the next piece.

I would add a Blnr, but I'm biased.
PM DD is simply gorgeous. |

I have heard the resale on white gold day date is lower. Just some infos. Pm models are only good value if good second hand price. The DD40 is only a year old so will be hard to find a good price

Going PM may leave your other watches sitting without wrist time.

Tough call. I could do PM as my only watch but it would have to be grail worthy in my eyes.
Do you like the Day Date THAT much? |

I own both PM and SS watches and have been collecting/flipping for 25 years and my experience is buy the watches you want. Wear the watches you own. If it does not work, pause, then get ride of it. I am a big DD fan in 36, 40 and 41mm. You need to try it on because there are no micro adjustments to the band. You can only add or remove links. If you are used to having a watch that fits all the time the DD may not be for you. It does not mean that you can not make it work, but for the money you will have tied up, it should fit all the time.

I'd keep the YM. Currently, my blue dial YM is my only SS Rolex. I have a few PM Rolexes. IMHO, a PM Rolex is a great value compared to other brands, just make sure you buy it right.

For Rolex PM, you have to get as close to dealer cost as possible as the resale is terrible on them (any of them).
Buy smart and enjoy. PM weight is worth the price of admission...grab one. |

Go for the DD40, not called the President for nothing. Add an SS later.

I'm all about reading a YM for a DD. but, if it will be you only watch I wouldn't. Do you want to wear gold every day? If it doesn't bother you, go for it? Maybe best to add a PM to a SS and have the best of both worlds.

The weight is still there. Just shifted from the bank to your wrist.
