First time Patek hopeful….do I have a chance….
Hoping to be able to acquire my first Patek in the next 12-24 months and was gravitating towards the 5172G or the 5935A. Have a good relationship with my AD buying mostly Rolex so far. Any chance to get either of those as a first Patek in the current market?

I was in your exact situation, so I speak from experience when I say: no. Get with a good gray.

I was offered a 5172G as my first Patek from one AD. This is in a big city with many high wealth clients. I think it's possible.

Depends where, but a good chance of getting them. I have been offered 5935, as a first watch. It’s a great watch, but not for me (prefer 5930P). I was also offered 5320G-011 and bought it.
Hope it works out for you. Good luck!

Definitely possible depending on your area, if you live in an area with a high average HH income very plausible.

5172 was my first Patek purchase in a large city as well. It was not hard to come by nor did I have to wait.

Based on my experience, I think both are doable as a first Patek.

5172G was also my first Patek during the peak of the hype a couple of years ago so it's definitely possible.

Both seem doable. If you don’t care about building a relationship with an AD, ask a few ADs and I’m sure when one comes by to one of the ADs they’ll allocate to you.
If you only ask one AD, it might take awhile because they just don’t get specific pieces that often. Rough numbers, 60k Patek’s made a year, 150 different models in Patek collection, around 300 ADs. However you cut the math, doesn’t leave that many. And then if they have 1 or 2 people that asked, you’d be behind them and then it takes over a year to get the piece. |

it's a beauty
Now the important question: salmon or blue 5172G?
I was at PP Salon Paris last month, they had both exhibition models... Really hard have a preference (and out of price range). See picture. |
