What's a good trade in price?
So this a general question about trade in value vs sales
Value. First let's makes some assumptions. Rolex Great to excellent condition. No major drinks, scratches etc Has no service History. But generally Good condition Let's say retail second hand of approx $3000 avg. So what would be a good trade in value? |

Ref 15053 R serial....but really just trying to understand what a fair trade in price would be in general, ie
would it be 80% of second hand retail? |

It's very subjective, but IMO you'd be looking at about 50% of retail

What's a good trade in price?
It would vastly depend on the model, ie, a stainless steel Daytona may even command 100% of the average, whereas a TT datejust with diamonds might get you 70% of average trade value, it's down to model desirability and how the buyer sees his resale chances and value.

Welcome to the Forum!
It is all relative to what you are buying, from whom, and at what price? Are you buying a much more expensive watch from a dealer at Retail? Then you would most likely get the $3k, but getting no discount on the other end. If you have a watch that is worth $3k, they will not give you a straight up trade... It is hard to speculate.. |

R serial dates to 1987 ish.... Trading in,means the buyer will need to resell it at a profit so you will get less, whereas an individual buyer wants the watch for their own and you could get more for it, but it normally takes longer to unload.

There are some online dealers like Bobs watches that advertize buy and sell prices. You may get closer to retail listing it in for sale here. I bought a 16570 from a member upgarding to a 216570; we both got a good deal .

You'll always get screwed on a trade to a retailer... I don't understand why anyone would do this..
