I'm considering purchasing one of the timepieces, specifically in the Sport Evolution category. Pro and cons anyone? What can I expect about service intervals, pricing, and length of time for an overhaul. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Service on the Sport Evo - every 7 years easily. It is an incredibly well built machine. I have sold dozens, and yet to have one come in for service.

Pros - one of the nicest looking sports watches on the market, bar none. Incredible shock absorption. Nice size. Aesthetically correct. Easy strap change system. In-house movements. Easy to read dials. Very accurate from my experience.

Cons - poor resale value, so buy at a deep discount off the bat (which are available), and you should be good. Also consider gently pre-owned.

Thanks. I've heard that I can plan on being without it for close to a year if it needs service from Swatch Group. Explanation being that it needs to go back to Germany as the watchmakers in Secacus don't have the expertise to work on it and lack of available parts. Any truth to that?

Nope. I have had much more complicated watches which had to go to Switzerland for service (also Swatch group), and it has taken 8-10 weeks max. Plus I know how to rush them along

X2, the reason I decided against one was because of the size. They're quite hefty pieces.
