Anyone watches INVICTA sales on TV?

Being a WIS type, when I am channel surfing, I automaticcally stop when I see watches being sold.

As almost everyone knows, there is a shopping network channel that sells INVICTA watches.

If you notice, the people selling these watches, place a lot of value on heaviness and bigness (larger diameter) of the watch being sold, as required ofcourse.

Yesterday, they went on an on about the benefits of "ceramic". Not once did they mention the drawback of ceramic which is that it easily shatters when dropped -- never mentiond it.

They keep on saying "This watch is 430 grams -- it is heavy, it is chunky, it is heavy" and on and on. I think they were talking about the invicta leviathan.

I am just amazed how customers are drawn to "heaviness" as a measure of toughness or robustness or quality. Why is the DEEPSEA heavy, because of specs andwhat it will encounter at -14,000ft. Why is Invcita heavy? Because for sales!!! I find heaviness of awatch as good as hot air because it serves no purpose.... it is not a design feature ---- it is not a requirement......

If you ask anyone wearing an invicta about their watch, their view would be that their watch is better because it is heavier....

If that makes them happy with their purchase, more power to them. Different strokes...

I saw a guy wearing TT Invcita the other day, and at first glance I thought it was a TT Sub or TT GMT.

Visually from a distance, they do a great job of copying. Once you get close, you know what is what. I heard that their 8926C so closely resembled the sub that Rolex sued them and forced them to engrave "INVICTA" on the side of the case. Who knows if it is true or not. BUT if they aare copying the sub but putting their own label on it, I don not think Rolex can sue them or anyone doing that.

x2

and, just to add, there are countless posts on these boards about people preferring the newer rolex models because the bracelets are more substantial/heavier. is that a valid reason? well, for those people it is, so, it's all good.

As we all have read on this board, that regarding the DSSD, the bracelet is too narrow. Well, they showed aninvicta with 26mm wide bracelet. That much width looked like crap. if you unrolled the bracelet, all it was, was a rectangle!! IT totally looked hideous because there was no taper. There has to be a taper to the bracelet.

"Why is the DEEPSEA heavy, because of specs andwhat it will encounter at -14,000ft."

Why does one need a watch thats rated for 14K feet? An unattainable depth for any human or whales for that matter!
Basically the same reason you think the Invicta owners buy theirs. Its a mere selling point.

When I was into less expensive watches, I used to frequent a board where all the members spent hours watching those watch shows on the shopping channels.

The funny thing about it was how much they hated them and there were actually feuds going on between these members and the "personalities" on these shows.

I can't stand to watch those shows for more than 15 seconds.

Selling a watch by weight is insane and I have managed to catch Invicta in the act, even with my low threshold of tolerance for such stupidity.

Some Invictas are decent watches, especially the cheaper ones, but big watches are in and Invicta lives and dies by trends, so Invicta is trendy to the max.

Anyone who spends more than about $250 on an Invicta is, well, poorly informed. Spending less than $150 is more prudent, if you must.
