30m WR enough for pool?
Need cheap watch for kids summer outdoor activities like beach and pool. Is 30m water resistance enough to get submerged or only splashed?

If there’s one thing I’m certain of it’s that the WR rating system needs a full revamp across the board.
1- no water 2- wash hands 3- hot tub 4- recreational diving 5- professional diving

30m WR is only good for getting caught out in the rain. Wouldn’t even swim with 50m. 100m minimum is the general consensus for “actual” swimming.

^ I agree. 100 meters and over of water resistance is way more suitable for swimming.

When we talk about WR, a lot depends on who makes those claims.
I always wonder because I think much of it is calculated instead of actual testing. 3ATM is about 43.8 pounds per square inch and that's what is used in algorithms when modeling materials pressure resistance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

So much misinformation.
Is your pool 30m deep? If my watch passes a 6Bar pressure test then it’s good to 60m for me. I don’t think it would notice a dip in a pool. Let’s not get into splashing the water with your hands or diving in.

Depends on the brand. A Casio at 30m, I would take that swimming. An FP Journe at 30m, that would not go swimming.
