Daytona hands and El Primero hands?
Hi Everyone, this is my first post...it’s an exciting day.
So, I’m looking at the Zenith El Primero and it seems striking that the hands are similar to those on the Daytona, and that even some of the earliest El Primero examples have these hands. I know many hand styles are copied, borrowed, or otherwise duplicated accross watchmakers, so this isn’t really unusual... except that I haven’t really seen other watches with this distinctive look. Looking at a few more Daytonas side by side, it seems that the hands changed to have that iconic black stripe with Ref 16520 when the modified El Primero movement (caliber 4030) was put in the Daytona. Am I crazy here? Am I just new to this and is this something that’s well known and discussed? I haven’t seen it written about in any of the usual places. I love these kind of Easter eggs, so I really hope this was Rolex giving a nod to the Zenith. |
