INCOMING... tough choice: EXPLORER 2 vs DJ41
Hello, everyone!
My wife and I are expecting our first baby, a boy, sometime around the 20th of May. Along with her push present, I somehow managed to squeeze and hide a watch gift in the same phrase. Contacted my AD and was presented the following options: a) 216570 EXPLORER 2, black dial - US$ 8,700 b) 126300 Date Just 41, silver roman numeral on blue dial and jubilee bracelet - US$ 8,250 c) 126300 Date Just 41, green roman numeral on grey dial and jubilee bracelet - US$ 8,250 d) 126334 Date Just 41, WG fluted bezel, Green roman numeral on grey dial and oyster bracelet - US$ 10,100 Some background: - Operating a construction company, my usual outfit and business are quite casual. On special dressy moments I wear my JLC Master Ultra Thin. - Other watches in my collection: IWC Big Ingenieur, Coke GMT 16710, SD43. Being a rather big guy with solid wrist, the SD43 is my main watch, followed by the Ingenieur. This leaves the 16710 somehow neglected, one of the reasons for which I might consider to part with it sometime in the future. Along with the joy and happiness our baby will soon bring, this is my struggle and the burden that I’m carrying these days (joke) and this is where your help and advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this rather lenghty issue. Cheers, B. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think the Explorer II would be a good option that matches excellently with business casual.

First of all, congratulations on the baby "incoming", that's the best of all incomings...
I'm biased but I'd go for the Explorer II followed by the DJ41 blue dial. Since you have a large wrist, I think you will like the size of the Explorer II. All are great options though. |

My vote would be the Exp 2 to go along with your casual look given that you plan to retire the 16710. Also note that the DJ41 wears almost like a 39mm watch.

Took out some blue label for my black dial delivery and couldn't be happier.

Many congrats!
As for the watch, I’d mark the occasion with a DJ over an Exp 2. That blue dial would go well with a baby boy. Plus, I think the watch better fits your collection. |

I'm partially the DJ blue dial. It compliments your collection.

Congrats. Based on collection, casual attire and your wrist, 216570 is the way to go.

Congratulations! The blue dial DJ gets my vote! More versatile and the jubilee bracelet is another level!

Tough call between the Explorer and the DJ Blue Dial, but I'm actually a big fan of the smooth bezel/jubilee combo, so I think that particular DJ would be my pick.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family
I’d love to say Datejust, but for some reason they never seem last with me. I’d love to own the Explorer though, seems to suit your style from what you’ve described |

I also am a large guy with 8” wrists. I had an Exp 2 prior to my SD43. The Exp 2 was a great size, I actually miss it sometimes.
