Storm damage
A huge storm rolled through southern Ontario last Friday and an tornado actually touched down in a small town called Fergus, which is between London and Toronto (albeit, to the north).
Some people are still without hydro (that's electricity for our non-canuck friends) and insurance adjusters are being run off their feet processing claims for flooded basements. To pick up on Padi's rant on road work... look at the damage that needs to be repaired on one of Toronto's major arterial roads. It'll prolly be effed up until Christmas. |

Well it had to be some kind of structural issue if heavy rain can make that road collapse.
Since I left Toronto, there's been a ton of weird stuff going on (or maybe it's just normal, but it's not a big deal when you're living there, lol). But there's been a rash of gang-related gun violence in the last two months such as a few drive by shootings that have killed at least five people, and a gang-shootout last night in my grandmother's old neighborhood, where witnesses heard up to 30 shots fired within a few minutes. Glad I don't live there anymore. |

The closest highway to that road (a few km away) is 24 lanes across! |

Definitely a highway by our tiny NZ standards. If we had 24 lanes across, some of the lanes might fall into the Tasman sea!!

Hi Atomic;
The last thing I want to do is get into a discussion about "mine was bigger than yours" but we had quite exceptional weather here in So. Wisconsin on Thurs. 18th. In less than 90 minutes we experienced a record 24 tornadoes. The worst was in my home town of Stoughton with an F3 that destroyed 29 homes completely and severely damaged 243 others. One person dead and hundreds injured. The night before this storm our family church burned to the ground after over 130 years at the same location. As Padi intimated, offer a toast to Mother Nature. She can sure get your attention sometimes. |

Mother Nature is an amazing and awesome force. I've stood less than two kilometers from an F4 toronado and it's a scarey, scarey thing.
I think Daren and I mentioned this about a month ago, but as global warming um, warms up, we seem to be having more extremes in weather. YIKES! |
