What watch should I buy for my boyfriend?

My boyfriend currently has this seiko watch

http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CGMQ8gIwAg#

I'd like to get him something nicer as an upcomming gift, but really don't know much about watches. I was looking at some of the movado watches. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We'd really need to understand the price range. Watches go from $1 to $3,000,000.

Rolexes go from $4,000 to $500,000 new.

Does he like dress or sport watches?

It would be a dress watch, he doesn't actually use the watch to tell time if you know what I mean. I'd like to get something nice that will last, personally I like the way the movado watches look but I know nothing about them. But if theres something better out there that's a little less pricey than movado, I'd love to hear about it.

If you are going with Movado, then I'd suggest you get his general opinion first. Most of them are extremely simple museum pieces. I don't know anyone who has one. Not that this is bad, but it may not be his style.

What price range do you have in mind?

OK, nevermind the Omegas.

Seiko, Citizen Ecos, G-shocks (not dress).

These are all good brands for your price range. Some very decent watches.

A nice Automatic Seiko Diver would be a well received gift IMO... something like this - http://www.princetonwatches.com/shop/SKX173.asp

(not promoting that site at all, just came up first on the list of a google search)

My husband has an "Orient" watch which is very nice and reasonably priced. If you look for them online you might see something that you like.

swiss legend or Victorinox

if you are on GILT or RUELALA they do amazing deals on watches sometimes..

I bought a Victorinox for 300 that sells in stores for 750, and got a swiss legend for 90 that retails for 250

Depending on what activities he engages in. If he is into water activities a good divers watch will ensure it can take the water abuse. If he travels a lot, think GMT so there's no excuse that he forgot to call bec he thought it was already late where you are
There are a lot of good brands around like inexpensive Seikos or Orients.
