Help in identifying a 14k Quarter Repeater High Grade Pocket Watch - possibly PATEK
Hello
I am a pocket watch enthusiast and i few quite a nice collection. Some for sale too. Anyway, i recently purchased this 14k quarter repeater and it was not cheap. My feeling of first glance said it was a Jules Jurgensen, but now i'm not so sure. Any help or guide to identify the manufacturer of this watch is highly appreciated !! The movement seem to be high grade with wolf teeth, and tried LeCoultre, Patek, Vacheron, Jules Jurgensen, Matile, Ed. Perregaux, Breguet, but no match. The curiosity is the twin bridge near the balance staff. The movement cover reads: "Repetition a Quarts", a 5 digit serial no., and several medals. The dial does not say anything. Under the dial it is writen something like Swiss, Brevet, and a no. but nothing helpful to identify the watch as i already tried all the sources of my convenience: catalogues, internet, collectors, friends, etc. Pictures: http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/8797/img9041b.jpg http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/2308/img9030e.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8244/img9024l.jpg Thank you PFD |

Any ideas about this movement ? I've just dismantled the watch and under the dial it reads:
+ (swiss cross) 15229 depose (registered model) 71605 48 |

A lovely watch indeed and surely a great piece of horology but I wouldn't think it's a Patek or any of the very high end brands you mentionned. As far as I know those brands only made watches in 18kt gold (I could be mistaken but I don't recall seeing anything from those brands with a 14kt gold case). Besides, the movement would certainly and clearly be marked with a name and a serial number.
Below is an example of a Patek Philippe pocket watch (not my picture), you can always compare this picture to yours and see the differences by yourself.

14K repeaters
I've seen high end brands using 14k gold casings. It's not a strange fact.
I've seen Patek movements not signed as well. Some of them sold on ebay this year. You've posted a much earlier 1940's i believe Patek Philippe, open face, savonette. Nice movement, a la Patek. But we are speaking about repeaters. I have indentified the patent; it belongs to Henchoz Freres; a well known maker of complicated movements; it is also known that LeCoultre used Henchoz Freres patents. |

I am also glad to know you found the "brand", again, allow me to compliment you on that exquisite timepiece.
