5513 with Explorer dial

I was offered the opportunity to buy it on its return from Rolex Service ,The Question is what is it worth ?

What would be a fair price

Thank You

FYI - lot of these with (at least) fake dials are pouring out from the nether regions as of late. So to answer question:

If real: ALOT
If not real (which is alot): Not much

If you are even remotely serious be sire to do a lot of fact checking and homework and then have the experts check it out. Even if from Rolex Service I would have the experts not from Rolex take a look.

If it's real, this should give you an idea of price - http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/on-the-...underline-dial

Such a cool watch but ....

3-6-9 dial 5513's top the wish-list for many collectors - certainly me.

Values vary widely, as you might expect for such a rare and coveted watch .... condition .... originality .... provenance.
Be careful though - fake dials are certainly out there and this extends to fairly convincing, heavily patina'd fake dials.

There's some good information here on the fine RPR website ....

What's it worth - probably not much since Rolex will likely switch out the dial when they service and "upgrade" that watch !

It is near impossible to place an accurate value without pictures. I would suggest you be very careful and proceed with the utmost caution as I have seen some exceptional fake Submariner Explorer 369 dials as of late.

The vintage rolex forum just had a thread showing lots of examples of extremely well-crafted fakes. Make sure you know what you're buying, and from whom. The fakes in that thread are downright terrifyingly good.

If it is a fake won't Rolex destroy it?

Oh, you already own it or just considering buying it? In either case, if you have a say in the servicing I'd suggest making sure they don't change anything that is visible, and no polishing, just a movement service. Good luck!

Wow. I would have been fooled by a lot of those. Just goes to show how careful one needs to be to purchase from a reputable source and, even then, that there is a risk!
