Sending AP in for service
Hello all - I'm about to send my AP for its 3rd year warranty certification/water test. Is it advisable to mail it to the Clearwater FL location myself, or drop it off to the AD? Are there any pro's or con's to either approach?

I can only speak from my experience--I send directly to AP. I live over an hour away from an AD and I didn't purchase the watch from them. So I've had no problem sending directly to Clearwater. Include a letter stating what you want done and of course ship it insured. You can also do it like Rolex and send it registered mail with tamper-proof tape for maximum security. Registered mail also allows for higher insurance values. So I'd say put the watch and instructions with contact information in a zip lock bag, then lots of bubble wrap and send it in. You'll get a confirmatory phone call within a day or two of them receiving it. I've recently dealt with Betsy there and have nothing but praise.

Registered mail is slow but secure and allows full insurance value. If you use another carrier, call to verify they can cover the full value.

When I sent mine in I used registered mail because they were the only service that would cover the full value unless you can use parcel pro. Miraculously, registered only took two days to get from boston to clearwater for me

I always call ahead to APSC letting them know I am sending overnight. I have used old Rolex service boxes put inside either a UPS or FEDEX box and then overnighted. Also including a letter what my wishes are with my timepiece

If you live in NY why not just drop it off at the AP Boutique?
Give yourself a chance to browse some of other models in the metal? Unless it's a big hassle to get to the boutique. |
