AP RO at clearwater and I chose a light polish

Hi everyone,
I recently sent my AP RO for the pressure testing and 3rd year warranty. Upon inspection I was told the following:
- case has small dents at 4 and 10 o'clock (purchased it preowned)
- bezel shows minor scratches from normal wear
- it appears case had been opened and there was debris in the movement.

Based on conversations with Betsy, I decided to get a light polish as part of the service. I was told they will laser weld the dents on the case and clean out the movement at no charge.

I decided to have the light polish since I'm having other things done and she said the watch will come back looking like new and I don't anticipate getting another polish on the watch for many years down the road. Needless to say, I can't wait to have it back.

I definitely have to commend AP's Service representatives. They have been in constant contact with me and kept me informed throughout the entire process.

I was wondering if anyone had pics of a recently lightly polished RO for reference.

Thanks

would be great to see some pics after, they use a special tool for polishing to maintain the case shape

AP RO at clearwater and I chose a light polish

My RO is there now as well. Should be back shortly after going thru "quality control"

Sent it back as I was having issues (for a second time) with the quickset date feature not advancing the date. It was there about a year ago for the same reason and received a movement service + the 3 year sticker.

I was told recently they could not replicate the date issue and the watch is mechanically sound.

This time, I was contemplating some refinishing of minor scuffs on the polished rim of the bezel, case side and bracelet as well. No need for fillers or welding.

Long story short, after asking for an opinion they recommended I leave it alone until a future service to refinish.

I was never offered a "light" polish...only the oppty to have a full refinish and to deal with whatever metal would be removed from the watch.

On their service form you can request select areas of the watch be refinished...but in reality, it seems an all or nothing deal. At least that's what I was led to believe.

Happy with the attention from the service center...and for the decision to make my watch case "last" longer. I guess I'll deal with the minor scuffs.

I am on the non polishing side, but at the same time I almost never scratch or bump my watches, professionals who saw my sub and Patek 5712 which both were worn 24/7 for 1,5 years were amazed and said they looked like they had been worn very carefully for maximum 2-3 months, so I hope never to have to polish any watch of mine, oh sorry, had to polish my Rolex Batman but that was following a motorcycle accident, the bracelet was heavily scratched on one side, my fault I was driving a bike drunk in Thailand and was making it go sideways, I have a long experience with bikes and this was the first time I fell in 20 years of bike riding

The team there in Clearwater is exceptionally great.

Do you have any photos showing the dents and the scratches? It would be nice to see "before" and "after" photos side-by-side.

Also, do you mind sharing how much this service is costing?

Hi Sam,
Don't mind at all. The service is costing $400. That includes cleaning out the movement (no charge), refinishing the case and bracelet, and laser fill the dents at 4&10 o'clock. Here's the pic the sent me.
