Tudor movements differing from rolex?

hello all! I was just wondering how a tudor movement in my new rotor date would stand up against my gmt2? to me I worked so hard to get them both that I cant really notice the difference(both keep excelent time). Im still a noobie so bear with me pls. On both websites they look pretty much the same to me to my untrained stupid eye.so any info that I could learn about both companys movement would be very appreciated. Thanksfellow trfers!

Well Dan Rolex Tudor uses movement from ETA Valjoux and a lot of people say they are inferior because they are not in-house like Rolex. But the fact is ETA are totally made all in-house and make very fine long lasting accurate movements. And are the base movements for many high end brands, myself have high regards for all ETA and Valjoux movements especially the eta 2824-2T,2892/4,6497/8 and the well proved Valjoux 7750/1.Perhaps the ETA movement will need to be serviced more frequently 3 -5 years than say a Rolex 5-7 years with light use. But should last just as long with far cheaper spare parts and any good watchmaker could service and get movement parts for any ETA Valjoux based watch.ETA movements today come in 5 grades, Rolex uses the top grade spec chronometer movement for the Tudor range.

What Padi said. Plus, those Valjoux and ETA movements are heavily modified by Rolex which would increase their quality compared to standard off the self movements, IMHO.

Thanks for the info gents. About servicing tudors more frequently, The dealer at the shop where I got mine in hong kong said that I should service the same as my gmt every 5 years or noticing a problem. Would you reccomend a shorter service schedule?

I don't think so. The ETA/Valjoux mechanisms are very robust and are used by dozens of brands with minimal problems. My advice is the same as your dealer's - around 5 years should be fine - with the modifier that if you don't use the watch that often, you can stretch it to maybe 7-8 years.
