Rolex SD43 ref 126600 was meant to be this way

So in April I was invited to the WEMPE NYC preview of the new 2017 Basel world. I already knew I wanted this new sea dweller so was ready to go pay the minute i got there. I meet with the person that invited me and i left me CC with down payment instantly was told i was #2 on line and i should have the watch within a month... a month goes by and i don't hear back and asked how my watch was looking and she told me i should get it by Sept or sometime in the fall.. I needed an explatation why it went from less then a month to 6 months plus. Was told VIP had to get theirs first.

So im in Saint Maarten this week on vacation i decided to test my luck and see if there is a new daytona or the SD43 available. I went to one store and they gave me the story like everyone else... i gave up and was just walking around and it seems the same store has a main store in the middle of town and i checked inside and asked Daytona? Was laughed at! So what about the new 43mm SeaDweller... the two sales girl looked at each other and said hold on... they go to the front window and takes it out and offer me the watch...

i was excited but wasn't ready to spend so much money this week.. she said "$10,800 USD"

I had this confused look when she gave me the price and i text my friend in NYC to get me the retail from rolex what the watch was because my data speed is super slow here. My friend wrote back: $11,350.

So without waiting too long i had them remove 2 links and fit my wrist and gave her my Amex

BAMMM!!

Huge congrats! I may have located one myself and seriously considering doing the same on my next vacation. You can't beat the discount considering you're saving the state tax.

That's awesome! I'm traveling right now within US and I stopped into a boutique in a mall just waiting on my wife. They had on in a coffin and acted like they wouldn't sell it. I told them to call me if anything changed and they called me followind day (yesterday) saying it was mine if I wanted it. Think market is stating to slow.

Congrats! Its a great piece. I don't think you got a discount on it relative to their prices. You probably paid their MSRP. Last time I was hopping islands in the Caribbean everything was marked $500 less than US retail prices. A BLNR MSRP was $8500 there and $8950 here, Sub date MSRP was $8000 there and $8550 here, etc..

This story just shows that SD43 will be soon readily available at MSRP. Some AD are trying to play their games (e.g. my AD told that they are selling SD43 USD 1,000 above MSRP and you have to buy additionally TT or PM watch), however, market will be flooded by this model.

I am happy to see that. Anyone paying over retail is unfortunate and may have buyers remorse soon, I am still waiting for one that should here be next week, but I charged the entire $11,350 on my amex to make sure it is mine. I would guess, like other models, this will stay at retail, and be available used for a slight discount, hopefully not like the black deepsea vs. the blue one. That is very sad for black deepsea holders to see the price thousands below, just because Rolex released the blue in more limited quantity.
Hopefully, they dont do that to this watch, as i would not be happy.
