Buying my first Preowned Rolex Sub
Hi All, I'm currently looking to purchase a Rolex Sub 16610 date. I've had a look at a few second hand watch dealers around Melbourne Australia where I live and they are selling for circa $8500. I've never really purchased a pre-owned watch before and it gives me some concerns spending a fair amount of money and putting trust in the seller that the movement and watch is in good order. Is there anything I should look out for or a way I can have some sort of guarantee that the watch is OK?
Anyone recommend a store to purchase from in Melbourne, Australia? |

I would do a fair bit of reading here on the forum. The information is fantastic.
I am sure there are places to buy, but I only know of Zaeger in Sydney. It is a nice shop with friendly staff. I find $8500 to be a bit high, unless AU dollars, so you might want to look around a bit more. I would try to work with one of the trusted sellers here on the form. I live in Dubai and bought a sub from a seller in the United States. It was a simple process and the packaging and shipping was supurb. best of luck in your search. |

If this is your first Rolex watch, buy from an AD. Too much money to have worries about condition movement etc

16610 were made over approx. a 20 year period and although essentially they look the same there were small changes over time.
dial lug holes SEL engraved rehault As has been said, worth reading up to see if you have any preference in these areas. |

There is a 16610 for sale on Langfords' (Brisbane) website. It's been recently serviced by Rolex. I looked at it today.

I bought my first Sub , 14060M , from Darryl at Watch Trader in Melbourne three years ago.
Very happy. I wanted to buy from a dealer to be sure I got a real one. Mine had recent service and green Rolex warranty card from that so it felt good. That price seems fine to me. |

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I'm looking for a circa 2008-2010 16610. Most are AUD $8500. I've gone to watch time , Watch Gallery and European watch gallery in Melbourne. They all seem like legit business so I assume they're trustworthy but regardless it's still a lot of money to take a gamble on. Some that I've look at have the box and papers with them (I would only buy with ) once concern I have is the watch itself and the movement etc, assume it would be costly is there was something wrong.

There is one on the watchgallery, july 2010 for $8495. I don't think you will find a lower price.
