A real rolex to him is probably not something he would ever consider, probably like flying to the moon. So I would think that he assumes that only multi millionaires buy rolexes

One of my co-workers last week "outed" my 14060M as a fake - his proof? REAL Rolex Submariners have a cyclops! Wish I knew that before I blew all that money!

A friend asked to see my watch and throught it was a fake because the back was plain. Maybe he was expecting a hologram or an official stamp of some kind or something.

They were showing off their fake watches and when i told to everybody that their watch is a fake their facial expression was priceless I HATE IT when people show off their fake rolexes I've been asked a couple of times if my rolex is genuine and my reply is " I am offended by your question " or " YES it is ! Haven't you heard the latest? The "guy" on the back of a truck is a lot more trustworthy than that AD with the multimillion dollar storefront! Hell, I just bought a brand spankin' new kidney from a guy on the back of a truck yesterday. Didn't get his name, but that kidney works great ... and what a deal!!!

Handled very well Jen. People in the general public are misinformed and believe that the fakes are made by the same company that makes watches for Rolex(a Lie). And Rolex wants you to believe that every fake sold supports hamas, hezbollah etc(a Lie). None of the rheoric is true. The difference between a fake and a genuine Rolex is Quality, ruggedness, durability (and a couple thousand bucks). You buy a Rolex for its quality, people buy fakes for image. By the way why do people assume my Baume Mercier is more expensive than my Seadweller or my Daytona... I hear "Baume Mercier it sounds expensive"

I would have asked him "do you know how to spot a fake Rolex?" and the proceeded to shoot his down, but obviously, you are a much better person than me Jen! Kudos to you!

whenever that happens I usually wait a couple days and then express interest in buying the watch. I live where there is an AD who authenticates for free for prior customers. Now, I know it's immature, but I'M immature....I fully admit it, and on the single occasion when some buffoon actually took me up on it, it was sincerely beautiful to witness someone who really ought to know better go down in flames when educated in the finer points of Rolex authentication.
.....I think the AD likes the humorous break in the day as well.... -JC Last edited by madrin; 7 January 2009 at 03:14 PM.. Reason: typo |

This has not happened yet to me, but I anticipate that it will after reading this post and others like it. I was a bit sheepish to wear it at work to, but my 'crew' at work actually took to it well, and complimented me on it etc. Of course 2 of them own Rollies, a Gold Daytona and an LV, so now I kinda fit in.
Nonetheless, I wonder what my reaction will be when challanged about the authenticity of my GMT ll. We'll see I guess. Sounds like you handled it well, and good job on that front. Wear it in good health - as always. |

I have had several people here in Mexico call my LV a fake, because it has a green bezel.
I tell them I'm disappointed in the watch also, because the bezel was black when I bought it, and turned green over time. Damn cheap imitations!
