GMT Bezel Rotation

I just completed a purchase of a GMT Master II 16710 Coke A series and wanted to ask about the bezel rotation. I have a SubC Date 116610LN and the bezel rotates quite easily (with that satisfying click). My GMT seems a little harder to rotate. Anyone else care to comment if this is normal or should I get it checked out? Thanks.

I mean sometimes if the bezel on my Seiko get's a bit gummed up, I turn the bezel around under a running tap just to try and clear the gunk/sand/salt out.

It shouldn't be difficult. With some aftermarket bezel rings they can stick or if the bezel ring isn't fully seated properly. Did you buy if from someone reputable? Check with them first. Try pressing down on it firmly all the way around to see if its on completely. then fully turn it both ways a couple of times. If its still stuck, it my be an aftermarket bezel ring, bezel spring, or click spring. If that doesn't work, send it to RSC.

Comparing the ceramic bezel mechanism to the 5-digit bezels is apples vs. oranges. Due to the design, it's normally more difficult to rotate your bezel clockwise than counterclockwise. If you want to improve the bezel action, Rolex released a longer "click spring" toward the end of 16710 production that is a little smoother and can be retrofitted to all 16700/10/60's. Aftermarket click springs of the same design are available if hunting an genuine part is too much trouble. It's an easy DIY swap.

Thank you for the tips. I tried everything you recommended but it’s still challenging to rotate the bezel. Otherwise, I did buy it from a trusted seller that sells on here and other venues. I checked with the seller and they offered to have their watchmaker take a look at it and offered to make it right. I plan on getting the watch serviced at RSC (looking to get an additional Pepsi bezel and jubilee bracelet as well) so should I take the seller’s offer or wait until getting the watch serviced?

That’s somewhat disquieting that a “trusted seller” would let a GMT out the door with a bezel that doesn’t turn properly....something not right somewhere

All my 5 digit GMT bezels turn easily.

Clean it with warm soapy water and rotate the bezel a few times under running water..

I would wait until you decide to service it if that is your plan. No point in additional fiddling if a service is in it's near future.

Because of the design, they all rotate easier CCW than they to CW.
