5146 - A tribute

Since the rumour of 5146G, J and R being discontinued seems real. It is only right we dedicate some space to be given them as a tribute.

I always take the view that the model represents the Patek DNA best:

1. Classical
2. Useful complications all in one
3. Right size for a fairly versatile dress watch
4. Legible
5. Most features of all the annual calendar
6. More importantly, value for money

The 5146J was my first Patek (albeit less than six months ago!) so it will always hold a special place in my heart. It's a beautiful watch and I am so pleased to be the custodian of it. I am surprised that Patek has discontinued such a handsome watch.

I absolutly love the 5146G, it is true Patek Philippe DNA.

my biggest delima is that i also love the 5320G which they both look very similar. So big part of me wants to keep the 5146G while a small part of me wants to replace the 5146G with the 5320G

Weren't selling well unfortunately. Every AD I've been to recently has one. Maybe the D word will help ADs move their remaining stocks.

A great everyday watch. I love the practicality of it.

Still happy I went for the 5146G instead of the 5146P as I like it to look more casual.

The reference is over 15 years old, so I wouldn't be surprised if Patek is choosing to update it.

I found this website which claims it has been discontinued. I don't have idea how reliable this site is concerning news on Patek.

For now I don't own a Patek . . . but mark my words, the 5146 will be my first Patek. It is my favorite one by far (within my budget).
