Cleaning 5212 strap

Anyone have an idea of the best way to clean the brown strap on my 5212?
It’s my first watch on a strap, and with my other watches I would normally wear them in the shower but not sure about this one due to the strap material.

Thanks in advance

which part of the strap are you trying to clean, the brown top side?
or the light color side which gets all the moist from the wrist?

i have tried Saddle Soap before but it didn't seem to work. and i am scared of using it on an expensive strap :)

The straps on these are similar to Hermes Barenia leather. They recommended using a white poly eraser (I found a basic Staedtler one) that worked wonders on cleaning spots off my Barenia wallet. I'd give that a shot!

Cleaning 5212 strap

Is this the same brown strap on your 5212?

If so, the key to cleaning starts with prevention. Your greatest risk is discoloration of the leather and also the contrast stitching.

So apply this protector if you wish to mitigate the risks or use the cleaner if you have a problem. (Amazon photo)

…if you already have stains, then the polymer eraser trick is worth a try.

Any other saddle soaps could likely darken the stitching.
