Strap hole punching tool and Spring bar tweezers?

Any recommendations on a tool to punch a hole in leather watch straps?
Also looking for spring bar tweezers that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Thanks!

Punch hole items are at Amazon, and since different holes have different shapes/sizes just get a multi-part 'kit' that has many sizes of that specific shape.

As for spring bar tweezers, you get what you pay for. Have three types and plenty of single-head (screwdriver-type) too. Yes the $$$ is worth it IMHO.

But if you insist on saving currency, these do work for ~$40.

I don't insist on going cheap, but I don't feel it's necessary to spend $250 on a spring bar tweezer. FYI...the link you posted is incorrect.

Ahhh ok, my bad. i prefer the screwdriver type versus these for $40. They're bulky to deal with. jmho

I can't help you with the hole punch tools but I highly recommend spending the money and getting this strap/bracelet removal tool.

https://www.esslinger.com/bergeon-78...-bar-tweezers/

I've went through a handful of tools before buying this one. I wish I would have bought it right away. By far the best quality and easiest to use from my experience.

Hi and thanks for the info. Quick question. Using the punch on an alligator strap…any advice for someone never who did it before? Are most oval lunch tips the same size as standard ones made by oem strap companies

The kit has various sizes, so usually yes same size. Measure the hole opening and then measure the punch's hole. Hope this helps.

Also those kits show 2mm as smallest size. Is that the typical size needed?

Am hesitant as hole size, and shape, can vary. Can you post a clear hi-res photo with a ruler as close to the strap hole as possible?

I got these to add another hole to my wife’s Hermes watch strap and they worked well - nice and sharp, so make sure you put something solid underneath!

Question again for those that have done this. When sizing the proper bit to use to pinch do you want the one that goes through all the way through easily when comparing to the already existing holes in the watch strap or do you need the bit that has the tip cutting side that is the size of the hole and won’t just slip through the existing holes on the strap?

Put differently, do you have to cut the hole with the tip which is smaller than the caliber of the rest of the bit that it broadens out to or only use the caliber of the actual whole bit and not just the small tip side?

I don’t want to cut a hole that then expands because I’m cutting through up to the full caliber size but maybe the cutting annulus is all that matters and the alligator will contract after the cut is made.

All help appreciated.
