Recently acquired: Patek 5270G-001 !

Dear fellow WIS,

Stoked to introduce you to my latest acquisition: a Patek 5270G-001 perpetual calendar chronograph !
This was Patek's first PPC with an in-house movement, my version being the series 1 without tachymeter or the notorious "chin", which to these eyes gives it a cleaner look than later iterations. The dial is silver, but the colour changes beautifully depending on the light exposure. Date of manufacture is 2013 and scope was full-set, plus a full Patek service in 2023 as icing on the cake.

This is my third Patek, after the 5146J annual calendar and 5065A aquanaut. Awesome pieces in their own right, but this one is on another level .

Hope you like her. Will post more pictures and a more in-depth review after a few weeks of wrist time. Finally, how would you compare the movement quality and finishing to the 5170 or 5172 ? I don't have a loupe and my technical knowledge is limited, so would love to learn more.

Cheers,

Pieter

Great piece and so very under the radar in white gold and with its brushed dial. Only those who know PP well will recognize it, but it exudes class. The 5970 is my grail piece, but the 5270 is a more reasonable outcome. Maybe someday!

Movement quality and finishing should be the same for the 5270 as for the 5170 and 5172 since they use the same base movement (except of course if you equate movement complexity with quality). They are all nicely finished, but don't expect more from the 5270 as compared to the 5170 or 5172.

Congratulations!

My 5270 is probably my favorite watch, even over the 5370. If I had to have just one forever, that might be it.

Enjoy your new timepiece.

Congratulations I have yet to see or try on a 5270 but your version is my favorite. Clean dial and I just love the blackened gold hands and markers

Of course it’s a great Patek to own.

It’s complicated (pun intended) on the aspect of long term ownership.

Setting it correctly for phase/month/day/date is daunting for the average owner.

Thanks for all your kind words !

How would say does the movement compare to a Datograph ? From what I gathered, you would have to step up to a 5370 to do equal or better than the Dato in terms of quality of finish ?

Cheers Pieter
