Locked in a 3 piece collection

Thanks to you all, I was able to feel comfortable buying a new to me piece this week. It's a 14060M two-liner. Once I get it adjusted it will be the final piece in my collection. It will never be sold.

The other two pieces are also permanently in my collection.
124270 - 36mm Explorer I
126234 - 36mm Datejust with silver dial and fluted bezel on a jubilee bracelet.

My intention was/is to build a stable of 3 watches that are perfect to me.
The Explorer is for any occasion, any day.
The Datejust is for dressier occasions, or at least not manual labor.
The Sub is for vacation and weekends. (And lots of other times, too!)

These are not meant to be an investment, they are for my enjoyment. I consider these three to be classic in style, and great representations of the brand.

This is an addictive hobby, for sure, but I will try and really enjoy these now instead of continually chasing the next shiny thing. (Wish me luck!)

I’m extremely biased since we look to have the same taste…albeit different references.

Great 3 piece

Future proof.... I had to say it to myself a few times. I like it. I like to think I did the same thing. Nice trio, OP.

Very well thought out collection. I think you are smart and right about future-proofing. The conservative classic Rolex designs have already passed the test of time, and going with 36mm for two watches and the smaller wearing 14060 is a good move.

Lovely collection. Depending on your wrist size, you may find the submariner soaking up more and more of your wrist time.

All classic and muted but still very varied - I like it. Nice one.

Your photo also shows how different the size of two 36mm watches can appear. That DJ looks closer in size to the Sub than the Explorer!

Great, well balanced trio - all your bases are covered. Sport, dress, light dial, dark dial, oyster, jubilee, fluted, smooth.

Well played, sir.
