It's You Tube Click-bait where hits equal income. Likely, absolutely zero actual research was done in making it.

First of all, the video is pure unadulterated speculation.

And given that, nothing much else is worth discussing.

Didn't Rolex neutralize flippers by requiring ADs to remove stickers from all watches when sold.

They made it way easier to flip with the new cards that have no name, AD name, or country on them.

My old SA practically encouraged me to buy things I didn't want like the 36 mm pastel OPs and reminded me there's no name on the card when I said no thanks.

I was wondering about this. I thought maybe the card could be swiped and it had the info on it.

They document original buyer on all transactions, and when a timepiece comes in for service, they cross reference the name on the service card with the name on file. If the names do not match, no bueno for the original buyer. Source is my AD who also told me only two people at Rolex know how to make the Pepsi bezels.

You really think this is true when it will be 10 years before they come back for first service?
I've had many Rolex watches that I've owned, worn for a few years and then sold on for something new. Not as a flipper, just a regular collector.

If what you said was true I would have been blacklisted in about 2005. Yet I bought 3 in 2023......

Rolex has a special team of audit / investigation veteran that converted to finding out flippers.

They are working around the clock to find those who dare sale a Rolex, and black list them worldwide. The legend says they also share list with interpol.

I have heard those 2 people are forbidden from riding roller coasters or going tandem skydiving together for that very reason

I would think that Rolex cares a lot more about ADs intentionally selling to flippers than they care about people occasionally selling watches they have worn.

If they put pressure on ADs, those same ADs are going to want to make sure they don’t sell to people who flip. And they might make up stuff like that to tell to customers.

I see no big deal in flipping, I really couldn’t care less, you earn it you choose exactly what to do with it, you buy a house must you stay in it forever ? Car same principal ..
Rolex make it so friggin hard to get a watch, if you can double your money so easy why wouldn’t you ?
I haven’t done it, and I only buy because I’ve managed through my AD to get exactly what I want in a watch, but if push comes to shove the watch is gone .. we’ll, wife first, then the watch but you know what I mean ..

I do not think Rolex has issues with too much of what is going on. There is a steady stream of "new like" watches flowing into to the secondary markets which sell at a premium and that seems to suit everyone just fine. The core repeat watch buying public cannot keep buying new watches if they are not able to off load watches which they no longer like, wear or suit their whim at will. It is that way in all goods markets where planned obsolescence is not built in.

Yes. Losing both would be the end of the Pepsi.

The post was sarcastic BTW and I see that does not always come across in written text

For the record I have sold many a watch, not to flip for profit but because I got something I liked better and did not need 7-8 in my collection not getting a lot of wrist time.

For what it’s worth, I’ve actually had a SA tell me “don’t lose the box, card, or tags….you will want those if you ever decide to sell”.

My opinion is that Rolex couldn’t care less, but that there are some AD’s who are really bothered by flippers and try to keep watches out of their hands, while others just really don’t care.

Rolex loves flippers
They could stop it easily , after all its 2024.
Every warranty card is registered and every watch sold has an invoice.
but they CHOSE not to

Perhaps it's easy pickings due to human Herd Mentality as the education system is failing. Agree with you PADI, YouTube is filled with Click Bait, but they make $$$ so... what does that say about society?
