Just received custom Datejust

Finally received my Datejust with custom cloisonné enamel dial. Waited three months. Came out extremely well. The dial is based on ref 8382

Is there a meaning behind the dial?

I am relatively new on this forum. Am I allowed to mention the company who did this?

Nice art work.

I would have liked better if it filled the entire dial. But, I get the homage to the original....

First, thanks 1M for sharing this, the enamel work looks great.

I saw a 5029 at the Miami show a few months ago, these dials are very striking in person. Were these two designs already being offered by Ématelier, or were they created for your order, or ... ?

Second, I also wondered about this - Is/was this a family/sentimental watch or reference? If not, how did you come to choose to use this model, rather than one without a date, and/or a yellow gold cased reference? Did you consider using yellow gold hands, perhaps alpha or dauphine?

Any information you’d care to share about the whole select/design/order process, I’d love to learn more.

First of all I have to admit that I am a total sucker for enamel dial watches and have quite a few. A couple of them were done by Ematelier. They shared one of the watches they did for a client with me, and I loved it so much I ordered one for myself right away. The reference was suggested by Ématelier. Due to the thickness of the dial the ideal ref. to use was the new Datejust 41 with 3235 movement. The calendar complication and cyclops were removed, which allowed them to engineer the dial without any modifications to the case. The enamel dial is thicker. We talked about the hands as well. I decided to go with the original ones. I wanted the watch to have less of a replica look, but more of a contemporary design, while still being recognizable. Ref 5028/29 is still in works. I think another month or so. It will be gold/steel with jubilee strap. As far as the process, it was very pleasant and straightforward, but not fast. These guys are busy. Talk to Alex Landa, he is in charge. Very knowledgeable.

That dial looks nicely done! Stern Frères made these Neptune dials for other makers like Omega too:

Actually the quality is better than the original. The dial is mirror polished, the originals were not.
