What is Included in "Box & Papers"?

I want to make sure I keep all the necessary and appropriate paper for recent purchases. When people say "paperwork" do they mean the receipt, or is the Warranty Card sufficient?

Thanks!

The most important bits are the watch and warranty.

Box, green hang tag, white price tag, warranty card, receipt, all the manuals that come and all the links that you took out.

The most that must has is warranty card.

You have a box. Keep everything that came with the watch in the box, including the receipt.

Then you don’t have to worry about it in the future.

Like, why get rid of something?

IT ALL FITS IN THE BOX.

The most important "paper" is the guaranty card or certificate with model # and serial.
Other papers usually include (varies with model and age) translation booklet, calendar card,
Other nice items would include the bezel protector, chrono tags, anchor, case back sticker,
polishing cloth, wallet/card holder.
Some Seadwellers should have the complete tool kit.
Inner box is fine, inner & outer box even better.

should the price be lowered if any of these items are not included?

People will try to get (and even give) any extra penny they can for any string, sticker, or fuzz that comes with the watch.

I would keep all that came in the box. But of course with warranty card is the most important paper to keep since you will need it for future services.

There is a side of me that wants to get rid of the receipt to eliminate any record of how much I paid - it is ridiculous and I paid MSRP! I have to imagine of all the pieces that people mentioned, the least valuable component is the original receipt - agree?

You find a lot of people who sell them grey and state "box and papers" really only means the authenticity/warranty card, which is the most important obviously. Personaly I keep everything including the receipts. I've never really understood how people lose the manuals etc without losing the whole box... but there you go

Am I the only one that sees a new or newer model for sale whether on this site or another stating "only the watch" or "naked"...does anyone else automatically think "red flag"...how do you lose everything for a new or newer watch? Or...am i missing something where dealers...AD or Grey...sell off the items (box, paperwork, hangtags, booklets, etc) or do something else with them?

Most people aren't freaks like us though. They get the watch, put it on their wrist and toss the box and bits somewhere and forget about them.

I hold on the the boxes for electronics and other things as well. Has served me well when selling them down the road

It's not only watches that enjoy getting original packaging and documentation when buying something used. Gives you a better experience / feeling then purchasing without IMO.

I completely agree and am that type of person too. All my watches have box and papers, I was just saying not everyone feels that way and it's not necessarily a "red flag" to find a watch without those things.

Agree 100%

I bought my dad a Rolex and within 10 minutes of opening it he got up and headed over to the trash can and threw the inner and outer box, hang tag and all stickers and covers away.

I pointed out to him that a lot of people keep those as part of the set and he just shrugged his shoulders and poured himself a whiskey wearing his new Rolex lol

He just kept the warranty card and the watch. Said he didn’t need anything else. He’s not wrong.

To answer the original question, it's as simple as what is mentioned in the question. Should be the watch, the box and the warranty paper/card. I would expect nothing more or nothing less if it's advertised liked that. Not sure why some are complicating things...

One way is when the thief sells a Rolex onward...and now the unwitting seller goes to sell the watch.

Warranty is all that really matters since it’s the only item that’s specific to that particular watch and irreplaceable. Everything else can be sourced online and can’t be linked directly to any specific watch.

I bought a grey market Air King last year, I thought it had everything but noticed the other day that the instruction manual was not included, it has the warranty card, warranty manual, green chronometer tag and inner box (I'm assuming that's the yellowish box and the white cardboard sleeve is the outer box). Hopefully if I ever decide to sell it the manual won't hurt me too much.

When I purchased my New No Date Submariner, I was given the Watch with Sales Receipt, the Box, with a Copper colored Anchor inside. After about forty some years the Sales Receipt fell apart. I still have the Watch, the Box and the Anchor. I have no idea why I still remember the purchase price. $109.00

Everything that comes with the watch from Rolex. You can keep the sales receipt as well if you like.

What do you mean receipt if purchased pre-owned? I’ve purchased watches from trusted grey dealers here and was never given an original receipt. I only received the warranty card and all the tags that came along with the box. They were all advertised with box and papers.
