Could TRF design the ultimate Rolex?

Well what do you think?

I would say it should be platinum. What else?

Case size?
braclet?
clasp?
movement?
thickness?
complication?
bezel?
dial color and material?

could get interesting

Platinum 40mm oyster case
Glidelock
3255 movement
Sports model so 13mm thick
Simple date time function
Glacier dial
Glacier color bezel - maybe even sapphire crystal like BPFF

Take my money now!!

Sports - I'd go with all these but a black ceramic bezel.

Dress - a Platinum Perpetual Calendar with glacier, salmon and white dials, maybe modelled on the 8171.

Everyone knows that you, Dr. Tom, and I are first in line for a platinum sub and that’s exactly what you described.

Good point. One man's 'ultimate' is another man's 'flipper'.

And it would be a TRF, not a Rolex. So, arrived at by consensus, it would have 3 dials, 4 movements, and 2 bands.

Was going to say this exactly. Although Omega lends greatly to this given all the different SE’s they come out with. Wouldn’t make sense with Rolex as it was stated above, one mans keeper is another’s flipper.

Except that wasn't designed by a disparate forum, such as Omega Forums, but rather by one blogging entity, Fratello Watches, very much in conjunction with the source company - and they didn’t design a watch, but configured/modified an existing catalogue item. The PuristSPro Forum has configured a few watches for exclusive release to members over the years, the most recent being 50 slightly modified Zenith CP 2 re-edition watches. Perhaps TRF could work with Rolex to make a TRF LE, but I think designing a watch from the ground up would be just too hard.

And no real special editions that Rolex comes out with. Of course the most recent exception to the rule would be the Kermit and SD50

Why Pt when SS looks the same to most Mike.

The price point would make Pt very, very exclusive.

Is that what we want?

Ultimate Rolex or Ultimate priced Rolex?

Pt definitely looks like SS even more than WG does. I love the feel of heavy metal on my wrist. However I most like the exclusive dial that differentiates a model from its more popular breathren. I was in a meeting last week where four of us were wearing Subs. Three were the 116610LN. I was wearing my 619LB. Price only factors into it because the unique dials are exclusive to pricier models. If Rolex made a SS watch with a red dial in exclusive numbers, I’d be a fan of it as well.

It would wind up as a "Jack of all trades, Master of none".

Plus, instead of merely being hung with a stupid nickname, it's official, given name straight from the factory would be stupid.

Verdict; although Rolex isn't perfect, watch design is best left to the professionals.

I want this to happen so that someone can come in here w 0 posts and start an "is it safe...?" thread and tell us he/she just bought the model the forum designed.

Full circle.

No !

The case would be constructed of unobtainium, salmon dial, +/-.00232 seconds per year, have a retail of $321,000, and a six year waiting list.
