I don't think the base level of economy class service is that good at any airline, at least without status. Fop top carriers like Singapore, Emirates and Cathay, I have tried economy class and been disappointed.

Within the USA: I think Delta is the best. Nice lounges, good service. I've heard the frequent flyer program is weak, but generally I am willing to pay for business class and am not looking for freebies.

In Europe: both Lufthansa and SWISS are a cut above, in my humble opinion, mostly due to high service standards. I've heard Turkish is great but have never had a chance to try it.

In Asia: There are a lot of great ones. Even Malaysia Air is ranked in the top 25 by skytrax, 20 places above Delta and about 50 places above American. Favorites are Korean Air and ANA. The Korean and Japanese style of service is best for me.

They are ok

Better than KLM or Delta if you ask me although they work together

KLM still used to fly with a 747 until a few month ago . . . .

KLM still flies their 747s. I was on one last Friday.

Air France is nice on the A380.

Correct my mistake

It's Air France what retired their 747 fleet in January !

KLM still uses the 747

I fly air France whenever going to or through Paris. Good airline but just not the best. I think they treat Delta's medallion members better than Delta does.

Air France is not a bad airline at all - in the USA they would be best of the bunch. Their biggest challenge is that there are so many good airlines in the region, but for a long haul from USA to Paris I think you are right in choosing them

No one answer.

Completely depends on route, time you want to fly, desired class, and how much you're willing to spend.

DELTA...Don't Ever Leave The Airport, has been my experience going back and forth to the UK, always a delay with connecting flights. Then they insult us with a $8.00 food & drink voucher!

Singapore Air - best service. I wouldn't say best food but definitely best service.

Etihad for me. Great lounge at Heathrow, convenient times/stop-overs on the route I fly most and a good seat configuration in business if you're flying as a couple. The reverse herringbone some other carriers use is great for a single traveller but not so good if flying with someone else.

Domestic is either Southwest or Citation Shares. Abroad differs every time.

When I did a lot of international travel to/from Asia, Singapore First was great. I usually fly United because they are hubbed at IAD and have the most flights to most destinations I travel to. I now fly Jet Blue a lot to FLL because they are cheaper than most.

As far as Best, most European airlines I have flown within Europe have been good in economy. No U.S. airline I have flown can stand up to European airlines in terms of service.

In the US - Southwest by far.

Asia - Japan Air Lines, although my wife loves Singapore.

Europe - British Airways or Lufthansa

Depends where. For LATAM I use Avianca exclusively. Amazing service, new planes, great lounges, hot female flight attendants

For me, overall and in order it's

Etihad
Emirates
Singapore

I do however that if you are flying first or business Emirates can be better than Etihad depending on which plane you're on. For economy and general good service/lounges etc. I think Etihad are the best around.

people may laugh at southwest because cattle call, no lounges, no first/business class, blah, blah, blah, but if you need to be on time the are by far the best out there. and yes, i've had some delays, but but i fly a lot and they are great at what they do. my second favorite domestic has become virgin. in fact, i would use them more if they had more direct flights to the cities i frequent.
