I predict it will be a cool looking divewatch, likely without a date, and it will generate lots of watch forum traffic about how it's overpriced and a marketing stunt and hodinkee are ruining the hobby.

Always enjoy reading the comments from the “elite” every time something like this is released.

Cheers,

I just received the email. If it's a 40-42mm Fifthy Fathoms, black dial, no date, etc . . . it will generate a lot of traffic and fireworks!

40mm
3, 6, 9, 12 arabic numerals
no date
no crown guards
coin edge bezel
closed case back
classic lug shape?
no blancpain on case side?
brushed titanium?
4hz movement?
13,000 USD?

Basically the original 50 fathoms. I decided not to get the barakuda and they announced this mmm...

My thoughts exactly; except I think it will be brushed stainless steel.

So, I think it's either the above, OR a faithful homage to the Polish Navy "no radiation" FFs, which would of course be slightly different than what's mentioned above - including the date, "no radiation" dial, correct bezel font, etc. Remember, when Blancpain did the "no radiation" dial re-release, it was in a 45mm case, with all of the modern things - sapphire bezel, "Blancpain" on the side, etc - and it still was a huge hit.

If they do this right, I will be a buyer.

I think Blancpain will reserve a No Rads in 40mm for their own release, probably two years from now.

I'd like that. That's $14k I wouldn't have to spend on Wed.

A part of me hopes I hate this release for that very reason. Haha

Same here. It's always well executed by the Hodinkee Team. Can't wait!

We will find out the 17th.
To be honest, I am not impressed with the previous exclusive editions made by watch manufactures in collaboration with Hodinkee.

I’ve had mixed feelings; some I agree on but a few have been great. the laurent ferrier and the zenith were both awesome I think.

If this is it and there's no fauxtina, count me in. If it's anything different, I'll save some money.

I am guessing it will be a bathyscaphe. If its a no date FF in 40mm I am ordering on sight. Take my money.

It is going to have to be really nice because a blancpain at msrp is the kind of thing that requires a few drinks before pulling the trigger!

Agree with this. Can't just throw around 10k or so on a whim...at least I can't :-)

If it’s a FF it could be as high as 13-14k! 10k is the healthy discount price I’m accustomed to but no discount from hodinkee :(

I'm also looking forward to it, but don't quite get the level of excitement here. It's not like there haven't been a few cool LEs of the FF in 40mm already. What we really need is a 40-42mm regular production FF.

I truly don't understand why they haven't made a standard 42mm FF. Surely Blancpain know they are shooting themselves in the foot by keeping the non-LEs at 45mm. I know the 45mm is wearable, and it is compact, but the mere perception of 45mm puts off a massive amount of potential customers.

We'll see what Hodinkee do here. For what it's worth, I think this will be in their wheelhouse and I think they'll do it proper service.

It’s pretty insane that blancpain has the foundation for one of the few viable Rolex sports alternatives (at least on some small scale) and it’s doing such a poor job of putting what seems like their best foot forward would be?
