Darn...

The more and more I look at these PAMS...I think I am out-gunned wrist-wise.

May stop in an AD today (hold my nose) and ask to try one on just to be sure.

I am at 6.5"...wear my Rolex Sub and GMT II mostly....but have some larger pieces. Somehow I think the PAM's lugs may look even bigger than these guys...I know, I know...I have to strap one on to be sure.

Don't think a PAM would conceal well under a dress shirt. My Banana Republic shirts barely fit over my Sub / GMT!

What do you all think? Here are some wrist shot comparisons. Sorry for so many non-PAM photos, but this is part of my research. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

If you try on a Panarai after wearing a Rolex it will seem huge on you, try not to wear any watch for a couple of days (I know, I know) only then will you get a true picture.

I think a six and a half inch wrist can easily pull off a PAM, especially if your wrist is flat rather than round (Hope that bit makes sense).

I'm wearing my 111 at the moment with a seven and half inch wrist, looking at it, you have only the one problem, and that is your first impression, you wont be used to looking at something that large on your wrist, give it 2 days and you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

Hope my strange ramblings make sense and help.

Edit; Just gone back to have another look, that G Shock looks really good, and at 50mm is a lot bigger than a PAM.

But objectively, if the Lugs are hanging over the edges of my wrist....it may look like a saucer?

No way! There are plenty out there that wear PAM's and have 6.5" wrists. You'll get comfortable with one in no time....

Bill, the only one way to find out is to try one on.
By looking at your Speedy Pro wrist shot, I think you maybe able to pull off a 44mm PAM.

In the worst case and you still want a PAM, try the 40mm version. Bear in mind though, they aren't as pouplar hence the resale may not be as good (good for buying pre owned)

I was very keen on PAM041 last year, but just couldn't see myself buying it - then again I didn't think I could pull of a 44mm PAM at the time also.

It's tough on a smaller wrist. IMO the 44mm PAM luminors wear a lot larger than other 44mm watches, maybe due to the crown guard. The lugs are also fairly long. I think my 312 is fine on my flat 7" wrist, but any smaller and it would be a stretch. That said, wear what you like and what you feel comfortable with.

Dammit. Just tried on the 111 sandwich. It looked good. Big, but good.

Too bad it was on hold for someone.

At $5600 full msrp before 9.75% sales tax...no bargain.

Guess I will keep looking for a pre-owned.

Liked the sandwich dial quite a bit. Might like the paint as well.

Psmith has one for sale for $4800 I think. BNIB with open papers bought from a US AD. He's down under though in Oz.

- Search for a nice Sandwich dial pre-owned?
- Get an easier-to-find-painted dial (for less)
- Pay a buttload more at an AD for new?

look ebay 111 is almost base u should find it for 4k used make sure all the box and papers are there but dont be fooled the fake PAMs are the best i seen go to AD to check even watch makers cant tell because they haven't seen a lot of paneris in the market becarefull

Bill,

I think you can pull off a 44mm Panerai with a 6.5 inch wrist (that's my wrist size). I will admit that it can be a challenge to wear under a dress shirt. I normally wear my 312 (and my 177 before that) with short sleeve shirts. Sounds like the hooks are in you -- you won't be satisfied until you get the watch!!

I am now comfortable with size...and a little hooked.

The question now is, how hard is it to find a MINT 111 with all provenance?

The AD is supposed to call me if the person who put the watch on hold flakes...I think my answer will still be No Thanks...but it would be tempting.

I just know that if I ended up flipping the watch, I would very likely take a beating.

I have wrist a hair or 2 under 6.75"......I got a 40mm Panerai....the classic Luminor Marina....it's still got the big Panerai look & feel....fits under l/s shirt sleeve...sorta.
